Any comments about Thrifty?

Right now they have the best rate for a minivan for our June trip? (thru the carrentalmomma sight)
But I have never used them nor heard anything about them.

I'm wondering the same thing. They seem to have the best rates for our March trip (March 4 to 12 $351 inclusive of taxes). That's using the Orlando MagicCard rate, because we want the additional driver.

I love National at MCO, but I know nothing of the other rental companies.

We've used them in Orlando twice and had a smooth rental check-in and check out. Our cars were nice and the price is right! I would recommend them, we've never had a problem with them! There are always those few people who have negative comments about them- I've heard a few. BUT, my family (parents, aunts uncles and even some friends) all believe it's a good rental company.

We used them in September 2007 after we got off the Magic. We rented in Port Canaveral, drove to WDW to drop off friends and their luggage, then we returned the car to the airport. Their office is off-site, but they had several vans ready to take passengers back to the airport, and their checkout went very smoothly. We got the best rate on a mini-van. I would use them again.

We used them at MCO - you need to use a shuttle as they are off the airport property. Shuttles run regularly.

We had no problems - I'd use them again if the price were right!

1) Other than the airport, the only location that comes up in Thrifty's search for Orlando is way over on International Drive. Terribly inconvenient if you want to go there from WDW and not rent immediately when you land at MCO.

2) You may wait for the shuttle to arrive for about 15 minutes, then spend 5 minutes loading, and about 5 minutes drive time back to the terminal. However, I have also gotten to the shuttle stop just as it was arriving, and I was back to the terminal 10 minutes later.

3) Depends. When you see a quote from a car company, the quote is usually the daily rate BEFORE taxes and fees. These are not "hidden" charges; they are simply add-on charges required by law when you rent a car in Florida.

If you go to Thrifty's web site and make a ressie (no deposit required, easy to cancel with no penalty until 48 hours in advance), the web site will take you through the process of selecting a vehicle class and then give you a total, with a breakdown of all of the taxes and fees, so you will know exactly what you will pay when you pick up the vehicle.

Check with your own insurance company to be sure that you are fully covered when renting a car, and whether you should pay for extra insurance. The answer for most people is a resounding NO, but only your own insurance agent can tell you for sure.
