Are there still crickets about the Wonder from October - March? Or am I looking in the wrong places? What's up with itineraries not offered? DH and I are trying to pick a cruise for our placeholder, would love to try the Wonder, very few sailings listed.

Word (rumor) on the street is that she will stay on the West Coast and many of us are hoping for a multitude of Hawaii cruises over those months.

Oh, that would be awesome!! Any speculation as to when we might find out? Is it expected they will release her schedule with the next round?

I'm not sure she could do a "multitude" of Hawaii cruises. Unless she home ports in Vancouver for them.

Sailing from San Diego to Hawaii would have to be a round trip, most likely a 14 night cruise. Many people who cruise DCL (especially those with kids) can't do that long a cruise.

I have been “Wondering” about this as well. I would love another spring break cruise from San Diego in 2023 but it doesn’t exist right now!

I wonder if they could do a stop in Ensenada, Mexico on the way to or from Hawaii? It's not too far from San Diego.

It would still need to be a round trip. Foreign flagged ships cannot transport passengers from one US port to a DIFFERENT US port (ie SD to Honolulu, or vice versa) without a stop in a DISTANT foreign port. A distant foreign port is any port NOT in North America, Central America, the Bermuda Islands, or the West Indies (including the Bahama Islands, but not including the Leeward Islands of the Netherlands Antilles, i.e., Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao)."

Ensenada doesn't fulfill the requirement, as it's in North America.

DCL did this in 2012. They sailed from Los Angeles and went to Ensenada before heading to Hawaii. Princess also hits Ensenada on it's Hawaii cruises that leave from LA and San Francisco.

Yes, foreign flagged ship must make a foreign port stop on any cruise from a US port. It can be a near foreign port, as long as the cruise isn't a one way US mainland to Hawaii cruise.

Mid September into November and late March into April or early May would not be too cold for that and since they only do 1 each way now that would be a great improvement. That would allow for at least 12 or 14 more.

edit: Should have added since they are already 10 day I don't see how the extra 4 days would be a "no go" for families since they are already done during school time. The PC cruises draw quite a few families already.

I'm not sure that 14 days is enough for a round trip cruise, anyway. Consider that it's currently a 10-day affair and you get 4 days at the islands. That leaves 6 days at sea. Do that twice and you're at 16 days. Add a foreign port like Ensenada and that's 17 days.

Princess does it in 15 days out of LA. 4 days over and for some reason they make it 5 coming back which is probably just to enchance the trip or Port constraints in Ensenada. So DCL out of SD could at least do the same.

I was honestly surprised they weren't included in the last round. Really makes you wonder... ;)

I suspect COVID is really affecting the ability to negotiate new contracts with ports.... and long term what is the cost of doing business in this new "normal". Low passenger rates are hitting ports as hard as it's hitting ship operators.

LOL. Seeing how many people do multiple Disney cruises a year I think there might be more folks than you might expect who could do two weeks. But Hawaii from the West coast is basically 7 days each way, so to do any time actually in Hawaii it would need to be more than 14 days. We almost did a HAL cruise from Vancouver to Honolulu in October 2019, 7 sea days, no ports. We did a Celebrity Vancouver to Victoria to San Francisco to Santa Barbara to Los Angeles instead.

Well, I'd be happy with a "multitude" or even a few Hawaii options! Or more dates to the Mexican Riviera!

Any thought that they might do a Hawaii to Asia (somewhere) or Australia then a few cruises on Asian/Australian/Indonesian coast? Would that geography even work?

Viking does a Vancouver to Hong Kong cruise. It's only 37 days. 🤣

EDIT - They also do a Vancouver to Sydney. That one comes in at 79 days.
