Any Children Abducted at Disneyworld?

My DS got seperated from my DH coming out of Maelstrom. I was in a tea shop over in the UK with MIL, when I just happened to call Dh to confirm our meeting time. that was when he told me he was busy looking for DS (age 4 at the time.) WHAT!!!! He had been missing for about 10 minutes. He told me to go to Space Ship Earth. I went there, and was going stir crazy. I called him back, and he still hadn't found him but was adamant he did not want me coming over to help find him. (he knew I was going to ring his neck). I couldn't stand it anymore, and went to the missing person security desk, right next to Spaceship Earth. I had all I could do not to have a nervous break down. I told the woman my 4yo was lost, and what he was wearing. She CALMLY picked up the phone, told the person on the other end that she had a missing parent, and was looking for a 4yo with the clothing I described. She listened a second, and hung up, and told me he was in the babycare center. I never moved so fast, I hopped on MIL's ECV and I think I broke the speed of sound. A group of THREE different couples had noticed my DS wandering around, and took him to the babycare center. One couple was coming back to inquire about him, when i pulled up. They knew by how frantic i was that I must be mom, and they told me what happened. I was very grateful, and told them so.

How long did it take you to wring your DH's neck? I'm guessing it would have taken me about 4.5 seconds. Of course, I would have left DS with MIL so he wouldn't have to witness it. :teeth:

As entertaining as this has been I gotta agree,

I do recall someone several months ago posting about an incident of trunks being searched at WDW. IIRC it was Feralpeg, someone whose credibility I have no doubts about. Sounds like it could have been related to the woman and child on the bus. Maybe she'll come along and tell us if she ever heard the conclusion of the story.

What I want to know is, with the heightened security at WDW now, how could anyone smuggle all of that into the park to begin with? They check every bag now, so unless someone decided to shove scissors, hair dye, towels, clothing & drugs into multiple pockets of their cargo shorts, I somehow doubt anyone could pull it off. But wouldn't that be a sight to see? :rotfl:

::yes::

MTE

If that wouldn't look suspicious...

" Ma'am, why do you have hair dye?"
" Well of course I want to dye my hair while I'm IN Disney"
"And scissors?"
" well I will need a trim too"
" Ok and how about the towels?"
" To protect my clothes of course while I'm dyeing and trimming my hair"
" ok.... how about the Benadryl?"
" for allergies"
" Why is it children's Benadryl when you dont have any children with you?"
"well ummmm...."

Give me a break~!

Best I remember those 2 were related and someone reported it turned out to be a mistake....something about someone grabbing the wrong stroller in the hurry to get out after illuminations.

Just another version of the Urban Legend we are all talking about.

Wish it were. The week after, I was at the friend's house, with this neighbor and the child in question as all our kids were swimming together and we mom's were discussing what happened, DL response, police response, etc.

Think what you wish.

The only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on one.

I have a relative in SoCal in law enforcement. I'll ask him about when I go to visit, if I remember.

If anyone claims this is true, or it happened to a friend, neighbor, friend of a friend or a sisters cousins fathers brothers aunt who had a neighbor who hired a friend to walk her dog and they claim their kid was almost kidnapped, produce a case number and the court where the trial was held. Until then, I call shenanigans! Everyone get your broom!

once again, i did not say kidnapping, that is your word, i do have friends that work for Disney or "the ratt" as they call it, and whatever you want to believe is fine, but i did say "incidents" not kidnapping. But do we hear of shoplifting, or broken bones, or near drownings or fighting, or firworks mishaps, my comment was , we do not always hear everythig, i agree if there were a successful kidnapping i am sure we would all know. :stir:

I know this was off topic, but wanted to address a couple of these. One of DH's best friend's was at WDW with his family when their DD2 fell off a wall she was sitting on at MGM (watching a parade) and broke her arm. This friend is a peditrician and he was very impressed with Disney's handling of the incident and how they tried to bring magic back to his family as well as a little sheepish that they had let the DD fall. So yes, broken bones happen at WDW, but from what I hear, Disney is pretty good about offering assistance, not busy trying to cover things up.

Here's another example of a guest with a medical condition and how Disney CMs responded:

I had an heart attack while buying jewelry for my DW on Main street at Disneyland. (no, it wasn't from looking at the prices... or maybe that was the trigger!) My sales clerk only worked at Disney part time. The other time she worked as a registered nurse at a local hospital. She saw what was going on and in 5 minutes I had paramedics hauling my semiconcious self out of the park and into an amubulance. At the hospital I got the intervention needed to save my life. I owe my life to that CM. Some weeks later I went back to Disneyland to thank her in person. I also left a thank you letter at City Hall.

Overall, I think Disney does a great job. I'm not entirely sure how "incidents" like this equate to kidnapping (which is a crime), but I wanted to illustrate how well they are handled.

These are all great stories, but I have a new one for you:

A friend of my uncles neighbors brother went to WDW with his wife and kids and told us he kept the entire trip under budget, his kids didn't fight or complain the entire trip, and nobody had any problems with him using the refillable drink mug he bought there in 1972.

Save for the refillable mug part (You never know -- that part could be true) it's obvious this is just another urban legend. The kids not fighting or complaining was the part that gave it away. :rotfl2:

I do not wantg to be flamed for this but here it goes. I own a dancing school and we often discuss disney world in the waiting room, since everyone knows i am obsessed an love to talk about it... anyways i do have a mom who was in disney with her family and her sisters family, they were in the MK and they both thought the other had the 2 year old, they frantically beeped each other on their 2 ways and no one had her, they did not know exactly how long she was missing but they knew it had to be about 10 minutes, the gates to the MK were NOT locked down, but they were taken to a security room inside the park and they were all told to look a the screens, (cameras all over the park) they said to look for her shoes... the dad spotted her with a man and a woman, heading for the gates (exit) they called security, they were stopped, the parents got their daughter back, new clothes on, baseball hat, and she had been given a shot to make her sleepy. This mom had no reason to make this story up, she was crying and said it was the worst day of her families life, she said that the disney security was excellent, but the first defense needs to come from the parents, just because it is "the happiest place on earth" doesn't mean that preditors will stay away, they are everywhere, and disney is basically a candy store for them, we lost our 6yo in epcot for 25 minutes and i thought i was going to die, if only we could sew their clothes to ours there. it only takes 1 second for our kids to wander off or dissapear, it takes a lot longer to find them, I love Disney, but dont be fooled into a false sense of security. sorry this is so long! :grouphug:

Calling BS on this one, sorry.

Perhaps people around you alerted security that you were suspicious (with the towel and all), and they decided to hold you up for a bit while it was checked out. Maybe the little girl standbyers had reported taken was your little girl, and they wanted to be sure she belonged with you.
I think this is more likely.

Late 80's Early 90's when I lived in Phoenix, a neighbor to a friend took family to DL. Their then late pre-school/early elem daughter was taken potty by dad, went in alone, never came out. Park began checking everyone going out and late that night found her being carried by a man of another race, had had her hair cut like a boys, was now barefoot and had a coat over her, covering most of her sleeping body. All ended well and she had not been abused, etc. I don't remember why the man did it.

/sigh

The only thing I know for sure is that there have been instances of molestation. Usually in the water parks.

Sigh. This zombie thread was actually reactivated by a troll late last night. The Troll was nailed almost immediately, but the mods removed the troll's post, plus the following posts that referred to it. Looks like it got picked up again today by someone who didn't see the original posting date.

Every time someone says "oh, I saw it at the bottom of the page!" that's my assumption of what happened.
