Now that they have opened up FD for fall, we are trying to get some good flight prices from Indy, Dayton, or Columbus. Everything I have tried comes up at least $82 one way. I know that isn't bad, but last couple of years we have went for under $69 one way. With a large family a few dollars extra can really add up. Anyone have any ideas?

I think the fares of $69 each way are long gone. I know that back in 2007, I had $49 each way from Philly or Orlando. The lowest I have found is $84 each way......

The days of the $69 fare are pretty much gone and likely never will return. Occassionally you will find last minute specials or other deals down to that price level but they are few and far between. If I could find flights from STL for $84 each way I would be beside myself with delight. The absolute lowest I have found in recent memory is $180 round trip and for heavy travel times $350-$400 is more the norm.

Respectfully, $82 is cheap. Cut back somewhere else if you need to, or just think of it as needing to buy seven tickets instead of six.

It sounds like you all have confirmed my fear that the days of $49, and $69 are gone. Once you have paid those its hard to pay more and still feel like your getting a good deal. Thanks everyone for your help.

I KNOW it's hard, trust me (and this is the one time you're allowed to trust someone who says "trust me" :rotfl: ); I detest the thought of paying $387 to go to Las Vegas this year - especially when last year only ended up costing me $68 out of pocket.

:)Thank you. I feel your pain too.

Tell me about it. I'm looking at a $565 St. Louis-Las Vegas RT on SWA leaving tomorrow. Fortunately my employer is paying that one.

We had resigned ourselves to driving from Pittsburgh for our trip because of flight costs. On a whim, I checked out flights from Columbus via Southwest. We got our tickets for NONSTOP flights, $75 each way- but with the Southwest promotional code for Florida, it cost us $62.50 each way. The flights have since gone up a bit for our time period, but I'd check if I were you, and if you haven't already - get the SW/Florida code, if it's still available. We only needed one code to get the discount on all four tickets - saved us another $100. It was a GREAT deal for us, well worth the drive to Columbus.

There were times we flew from Houston to Orlando for $200 R/T. This time it is going to cost us $400 R/T. Talk about eating up a budget quickly!:confused3

This year it seems the longer you wait the more expensive they get.

I would jump on the $82 fare, but I did get our return flight for October for $69 through AirTran.

I'm interested too.:flower3:

This is the site I went to - actually found out about it on another thread here.

You basically send someone (or you can put in your own e-mail address, I found) a virtual postcard from Florida that includes a link to get a $25 off roundtrip flight via Southwest. That came a few days after I clicked, but it sounds like it has taken up to a week for some people.

Hope it helps!
