Hi 😁

I just passed ROFR yesterday and waiting to close on our first contract ever (160 pts at SSR). So, I don’t expect we will have our points until August?

We have friends going to the parks on Dec 1 & 2, who would love for us to join them. It their first trip!

I cannot imagine there will be any reservations anywhere for those dates at this point. Seems like a lost cause to me, but this is my first rodeo so to speak.

DVC veterans what do you think?

Changes by the hour, minute, second lol. Once accessing your searches, dates appear. Just need to search often.

One bedroom will be best chance. Resorts like SSR will have best odds. It’s the excitement of the hunt..Welcome Home!

Nothing wrong with putting in a waitlist, and stalking if you feel like putting in the effort. You are only looking for two nights, so you have a fighting chance.

So far, I've found waitlists reasonably effective, though I am not trying for the early December period.

Id say as long as you are willing to put in the work, anything can happen.

I know May is not December but this year I were able to piece together a stay at Boardwalk, studio SV, 10 nights, less than 60 days out.

If it were me I would stalk and waitlist. The stalking part would be many times daily

Life happens. I had to cancel a week at Copper Creek in a 2 BR the first week of December last year about a month and a half out. I'm sure someone was very happy to grab that. Stalk, waitlist - you never know!

I've had good luck in the past stalking - more so than the waitlist. Do both, but keep stalking. It can work if you keep at it enough.

Once you get inside of 31 days to check-in your odds decrease exponentially as people's points go into holding when they cancel. But there are lots of cancellations ~31-60 days before check-in. People's plans change, maybe time off work was declined, etc., so they cancel. That's when you want to stalk the website and search often, you'll be surprised what you find.

The first week of December is the most popular week in all of DVC. However, people drop days and change their schedules all the time. I was holding a 1 bedroom BLT preferred view from December 1-16. After booking airfare yesterday, we dropped December 1, 2, 15, and 16 last night. I expect all of those days immediately went to people with waitlists.

Or to the stalkers!!

Last week I was trying to nab a Dec 6 4-night stay, but there were no complete dates available - there were some partials though - so waitlist may work. I ended up just booking Dec 12 for 4 nights as there were still resorts with all dates available so I didn't have to waitlist or split stay...though I had to pick Saratoga or OKW as everything else was incomplete. Worked fine for me.

I have a Boardwalk view 1-bedroom coming up in mid-September, the Saratoga stay on Dec 12, and booked a Fort Wilderness Cabin for Feb 6 for 4 nights. I'm trying to decide for June if I want to grab a Boardwalk std view 1-bedroom, or wait until November to book another Wilderness Cabin (keeping the points down for the June trip as I'll probably need a few extra banked for a bigger planned trip in Dec 2026).

Or as mentioned, if you don't mind stalking, it can definitely pay off...I've nabbed a few within 60 days of my trip that suddenly opened up.

There’s always a chance, things are constantly changing.

I am sitting on a coveted reservation for the first week of December that DH and I are talking about letting go. We are going for Halloween and then again in January so we are thinking the 3rd trip in such a short time might not be necessary.

Sad you may not be going - but I understand 3x in 3 months might be a bit too much Disney…hopefully you’ll make someone really happy if their waitlist gets filled…like ME! Been waitlisting to extend my vacay…

Anything is possible. I completed a bwv garden studio 2 months out for 5 nights and vgc for 4th of july weekend 2 months out as well.

People can cancel at anytime. Lots of BCV 1 bedrooms popped up at 2 months for September too a few days ago and i grabbed some nights.

I think 2 months is my sweet spot. Waitlists have worked for me too a couple of times, but stalking is a must for those rare ones
