We had already planned to go in October this year and I couldn't remember if they had offered free dining in Oct. last year or not. Does anyone remember last year's dates? When was it announced? Crossing my fingers that the free dining will be extended!

Friends took advantage over Columbus Day week last Oct.-said the weather was great. You can always hope!

Last year's dining promo extended into the first few days of October (through Oct 4, I think?) and many people checked in on that day and stayed through the Columbus Day holiday.

I don't think anyone can guess what kind of offers Disney will do, no one expected free dining again this year... and they did!

I'm checking for mid-October as well... :)

I would not think Disney would offer it for the entire month of October since that is such a busy month for them.

Free dining is usually offered during the non peak times to lure guests to come then.

Of course with Disney anything is possible.

Free dining was for check-ins through October 4 last year. They offered it, the date to book came and went, then they offered it again but they did NOT extend the dates. We checked in last year on October 14 so it would have been nice for them to extend it, but they didn't. With Food & Wine and MNSSHP and the fact that lots of school districts have "Fall break" in October I don't think they will add dates.

Our Fall Break doesn't start until October 5 this year, and I really thought (and hoped) that any promo Disney offered this year would be through October 4, since that is the last date of Value Season. We would've booked a late flight on 10/4 and made it just in time to take advantage of the Free Dining.

It looks like they've really wised up to the whole month of October being busy :/

I did have one other thought, that probably has nothing to do with anything. If I'm not mistaken, the HCOE ends on September 30. Maybe there will be a new code or special when that is closer to being over?

It does look like they deliberately ended the period for free dining earlier to keep folks from extending it too far into October.

so if you arrive on the last day of free dining you can have free dining for the length of your stay? Example - arrive Sept. 30 and stay for 14 days you have free dining for the first 2 weeks of Oct?

That's correct.

However, if you live in the USA, you can book a package for 10 nights.

There are plenty of the us that are able to stay for more than ten nights, but for some strange reason Disney won't allow us to book a longer package. :confused3

You can only make reservations for 10 days at a time, so that would be as long as you could stretch it. Anything longer than 10 days has to be a seperate res.

So figuring that, Disney likely decided they wanted free dining to end on a specific date in early October, and the counted 10 days back to find the last check-in date for a trip including that date... that's how the date go back into September.
