I would love some feedback- on the Eureka Copper Canyon- This is a really big purchase for me and I want to make sure before I bite the bullet. I am looking at the 1512 Cabin Tent but would like to hear from anyone that has any model of the copper canyon. If you have any pictures i would greatly appreciate it, especially the inside- Thank you! Bws
I bought this tent this week. I ordered from the Eureka outlet in Binghampton, New York on Saurday March 12 - it came yesterday, March 17. It is a 'second', but I can't find any blemish or problem. We are going to be beach camping with friends this summer and we wanted something with a lot of ventilation.
Oh...I have been checking our local craigslist for a used large tent as well as checking out some other brands such as Coleman. I saw a Eureka 1610 not as large and they wanted $185....also different style of tent - not cabin. I was never lucky enough to find a huge one on Craigslist.
Yesterday we set it up. It was easy to set up. Maybe 30 minutes. I sat and watched while my daughter did it. She asked for a tiny bit of help when it was time to raise the roof...I had to hold one pole. It was really easy to sit there as it was very nice and warm here yesterday!
We put a couple of blankets down so as not to mess up the floor and put a huge tarp under it for set up as we didn't want it to get damp. It stayed up a few hours as this was mostly to check it out and make sure all the parts were there and that it worked. I haven't got a proper ground cloth for it yet, but our local places sells them.
The tent is huge inside! You can definitely stand upright at the walls. I could not reach (I'm almost 5'6) the center of the top inside to hang the divider cloth - I will need a little stool. There is a door on either side of the 'longer' sides, so if you decide to divide it, each side can come and go. The window openings are huge so that it's almost like a screen room when the fly is off and all the windows are open.
There are little zippered slots on either side to run a cord for a fan or something. There are hooks up top to suspend a light or maybe the gear bag.
My cost was $265 plus the fedex fee of $34, so about $299. The box said 'bag restitched'. I found a couple of 1 inch grass blades in the bag, so got worried it was not seconds but used. Once we set it up, I have no doubts that it is not used........no dirt at all and no sign of any type of wear. Very clean, not a pick on the screens....I was looking very carefully as you have 10 days to return with this outlet. A used tent from them was $181? plus fedex fee, so if it looked used it was going back! I even called the store before setup and talked to Bill - he said check it out and call back if you have a problem. He said that the bag may have been switched out if the original was torn, hence the grass, or the tent may have been set up in a store. In any case the tent itself was perfect after we set it up. Maybe I should call Bill and let him know....
Anyway, we sat there for a couple of hours, in the sunny tent with the fly off, and brought in our sand chairs ( the feet are the bar type so easier on the floor) and enjoyed 'camping' for a bit. The neighbours checked us out and sat for awhile also. we were all quite impressed with ourselves - good deal, great tent!
And - also size wise - I think this tent would easily hold 4 double or queen aero beds with room to walk in between. I am going by the blankets I spread out. It also looks really nice!
