Is the Brown Derby as yummy as it sounds?

This past July we had an excellent meal! DD and I had surf and turf, DH had fish, DS had filet, and we had the 100yr dessert. Our server was very on top of things but not so much that we could not enjoy our meal.

We did the BD w/ the Fantasmic Package.
We do not like buffets so that ruled out H&V and heard MM is mediocre.

I had always wanted to try the BD, and glad we did!
Food was great, service wonderful.

We did BD several years ago and thought it was just so-so -- food, service, value for the price. With so many other great restaurants on property, there was no reason for us to return.

This year, by default we decided to give BD another try in order to participate in the Fantasmic Dinner Package. We didn't want to do H&V (had heard it wasn't too good) and had no interest in MM (our city has several excellent italian restaurants). This time, I had an appetizer (can't remember what it was - not memorable at all), the pork loin with some kind of bbq sauce as my entree. It was dry and didn't have enough sauce. For dessert, I had the grapefruit cake which I'll admit was very tasty. The waiters were very inattentive and slow and the meal was quite expensive. Personally, unless I needed to do BD for the FDP, I would pass on this restaurant and have a nice dinner at any of the other terrific, comparably priced restaurants on property (Flying Fish, Artist Point, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Boma, Jiko, etc.).
