The new attorney I work for ("new" as in "fresh out of law school and looks about 12 years old ... no, really: 12 years old") is very taken by the idea that I am an Anglophile and so made me a mix CD for Christmas called "Music for a Modern-Day Anglophile." He put a dozen of his favorite songs by British artists on it, including "Tracy Jacks" by Blur. We both agree that this is a catchy song, but the name has us wondering: is Tracy Jacks a real person? Is it Cockney rhyming slang? Does it mean anything to yer Average Brit? Or is just a name Blur made up?

Any insight would be welcome! :cool1:

Can't answer your question about Tracy Jacks (though my guess - and that's all it is - is that it's simply a made up name) but I love Blur too :) :)

Anyone else know if it means something??

Thanks, Miffy. At least I know it's not a name that has instant resonance in England. I mean, there's no modern-day folk hero called Tracy Jacks or something. :D

Not really a Blur fan, but I think he will still win the next election.
