Any benefit to the second show of World Of Color?

I read the thread. There is not much talk about strategy for the second show.

It says the "cattle call" is not as bad, but can you get in line later? 30 mins before the show? 45 mins? Or do you still need to be there 60 to 90 minutes before the show starts?

Can people from the first show watch it and then stay there for the second show or will they have to clear out?

Also, what are the lines for TSMM like during the first and second show?

Sincere apologies if these Qs have already been answered-

Guests watching the first show must clear the area before those with passes for the second show can enter.

I have seen both the first and second shows many times (on separate occasions), and still found that I had to line up about an hour before show time (30 minutes before they allow guests to enter the viewing area) to get a decent railing spot in the back. To get an amazing spot, I'd probably get there a bit earlier to make sure I was at the front of the line.

The second show has the POTENTIAL to be less crowded, but not a guarantee, and in my past experiences, I noticed little difference. I think I've seen the show 6 or 7 times, most recently 4 months ago, so things may have changed a bit in the last few months.

The wait is a little shorter.

75 minutes for the first show, 60 for the second. If you haven't seen the show before, it can ruin it as you wait for the first show to end, since it's huge and you can't easily block it out.

The Paradise Peir rides maintain their lines through the WoC shows. Because most attractions close, the few that are open absorb part of thier queue. There is rarely any advantage to ride TSMM or GSS or LMAUA during WoC.

I've only seen WOC twice. Once for 1st show and once for 2nd. I greatly preferred the 1st.

As stated, for the 2nd show you must wait in a pre-que area until the 1st show clears out. Standing in a jammed area like that was no fun especially for the kids. For the 1st show we were able to just walk right in and get a decent spot about 40 minutes before show. This was much better than the pre-que holding area and mad dash following a CM to the show area.

On very busy nights its possible that the crowds will be less for the 2nd show allowing you to get a better spot with less wait if you're willing to stand in the pre-que line.

It sounds like the wait is only a little better, and even more bothersome for the second show. Thanks guys.

If you're planning to do the WOC dinner package at the Wine Country Trattoria, pick the 2nd show. You only have to wait about 15-20 minutes before the second show starts and they lead you to your viewing area first (at least they did when I did this in April 2012).

Thanks for the info! :goodvibes

I am planning to get the WOC dinner package for the second show. It's good to know that they let people into the preferred viewing area early. I don't mind lining up ahead of time as long as I can get next to the railings. I believe it will be much busier in August. Should I still start waiting about an hour before the second show just in case? AND ... I am going to be there on the first day AP blockout is lifted ... :scared1:

I have seen both showings, with and with out dining packages.

We simply prefer the second showing because we are night owls and don't mind. I also find that the second showing, depending on season and day of the week, can be less crowded.

We like to only spend one day at DCA out of any of our trips, and if we start around noon (not opening) we get to do everything including WOC. That is just our plan of attack.

Anyone considering 1st or 2nd show of WOC should include the impact of young children. If your group is all adults, the lateness of the second show is less of an issue. If there are kids, then the first show will be a better option for many.

I did watch the show on a Thursday evening the week beginning April 10, 2012, so that was April 14th.

I think this was during some spring break as well (I stayed at VGC on points I rented)

BTW, there was a specific waiting area for preferred viewing people (not in the general population). There was a line that said something to the extent of preferred viewing line or WOC dinner package (something that told us that was where we were supposed to stand). There were only about 10 people standing there before the 3 of us got there.
