I could not get the Promotional code to work. Got this error:

Problem With Promotional Fare: The promotional fare you requested requires travel with an eligible companion. Since that requirement is not met, we have provided a non-promotional fare. You may proceed with this fare, or consult your promotional materials for details regarding eligible companions.

I was getting the same message when I entered AAA Adult and AAA child. If you just use Adult and Child, it seems to work.

Thanks! It seems like you have to pair one adult with two kids perfectly right. If you have an extra adult, you will get this error message.

You can not use AAA and the promotion code, one or the other. I didn't have any problems, I used 2 adults and 4 kids.

OH, THANK YOU for posting this!! I been reading here about people talking about the kids being free for the summer on the AutoTrain, but I couldn't find a thing on the Amtrak site. That article mentions the code H749, so I tried it on the website (without any AAA adults) and it will save us $135!!! OK, I am very happy here!!

It is a terrific deal for our family of four (2 adults 2 kids) for September - and now we don't even have to worry much about the price of gas at the time of our trip! AutoTrain - here we come!

I was amazed to find out the fare for the five of us (2 adults, 3 kids) is the same for September 0f 2008 as it was September of 2006. We can't say the same about the price of gas! Sign me up!

I've never done the auto train before, but with the cost of gas it's a great deal!
