If so I have a question to throw your way, if you don't mind giving me some free advice
I need advice on a commercial building (new school), It's a *small* school district building is old, branching off on own this next year, and the "old" district wants to charge an arm, leg, some 1st borns and then some for the school building. A family member of mine is on various planning committees and threw a thought out to me, what would the cost be to build a new school vs paying way to much for the old school, * I think it was 2 million dollars, no where near the value, probably more like 400,000 for a value* would it be more cost effective in the long run to build new?
Some facts to consider, the current school is getting old, needs an updated furnace to start, but several other "updates/improvements" will be needed in the near future (probably within next 5 years.)
If anyone is out there who has a clue at any of this and can offer advice, here's some more statistcs for you. It's an EC-12 school, so with the current student numbers, figuring a need for 35 classrooms (including specials like music & art) , library, office, teachers lounge + a gym with locker rooms, an "extra" room/back gym off the main gym for a lunch room/extracurricular practices/games. Just looking for a starting point to help this person out to decide if he should even pursue an architect to get floor plans drawn.
THANKS!
Chip
