Any AP Holders Thinking of NOT doing MNSSHP?

We are Annual Passholders this year, and I'm quite undecided on what to do about the MNSSHP. Even with our Passholder pre-purchase discount, our tickets for our family of 4 are around the $230.00 mark.

We did it last year, and the boys had a great time. I do enjoy it, but other than seeing the cool decorations, a specially themed parade, and some rare characters, the boys just end up back at our room with an unhealthy assortment of candy.

They are 5 & 7 years old. Other than meeting Jack Sparrow last year and seeing Jack Skellington, they were more interested in the Trick or Treat part of the event. I'm not convinced at their age they are that interested in much else at the party. :confused3

With our schedule this year, we decided to do our trip Sept. 7-13 to (hopefully) enjoy a crowd level of 1 or 2. We went last year in the 2nd week of October and it was just too crowded for me. ;)

I kinda feel a little burnt out on the extra special events price tags...just saying!

So, any other Passholders thinking about passing on the MNSSHP this year? For the $230 price tag, I was thinking of getting us either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach yearly passes instead. (Refurbishments will decide that too). The boys always beg to go to the water parks.

I have a trip October 18 to 24 and don't plan it. Been there, done that. The price is crazy.

My girlfriend and I are annual pass holders that live just over and hour away from WDW. We do MNSSHP every year now and absolutely won't miss it...:)

The theming, the parade, the fireworks, the lighting and music all really make us feel the Halloween holiday spirit. Being at night really gives it the Halloween feel. It's a feeling that we just don't get sitting at home or walking around the neighborhood at home looking at decorations. It's like being on a sensory ride all it's own for the whole night for us...lol.

I look at it this way, we only live once, and life is so short when you think about it, so we enjoy it while we can. We plan on doing two parties this year using our AP discount..:)

We're not heading down for a fall trip last year, but last year we skipped the MNSSHP. I don't think there was a party with an AP discount when we were there, though I could be mistaken. We just couldn't justify nearly $200 for 5 hours park time for three people.

We did it once. We had fun and all, just nothing we want to do again. Been there, done that type of thing.

We love MNSSHP but when we are PAPs, we don't do the parties. This year our PAPs expire in September and we're dropping down to seasonal APs so we will do the parties this year!

Haven't done it in several years, I'm done with the parties.

Use to do EVERY party I could make, which meant At least once Christmas and Halloween and if things worked out on a single trip I would go multiple times. Did the P-cubed party 3 times in a single trip. Most trips in the fall (typically 3, once in Oct for the Santa Fe Century in Gainesville; once in Nov for thanksgiving; once in Dec for a pre-christmas fun weekend. And this is coming from Boston) I would do the Halloween 2x and slip into the christmas 3x.

At $40/ticket, I scaled back only went to 1 party per trip. And no special trips to parties.

at $50/ticket I scaled back to only 1 party per year (normally the halloween, which is the better party I think.)

At $60/ticket I'm down to going once every few years. (this year for some night's it's over $70, and pushing $80 for Halloween.)

Being a AP holder, I can't justify the cost, for 5 hours in the park (7-midnight, since I already can get into the park from 9-7) They have reduced service and increased price. Add to it I have a 5yo who can't really stay in the parks beyond wishes. Now we are paying $58x2 + $53 for what amounts to 4 hours, or $42 per family-hour or $14 per person-hour.

If I book a Disney Cruise for 7 days out of port Canaveral. it's $8.35/person-hour = ($4210/(7*24*3)) yes I'm sleeping for part of that. but I think the cruise is a better deal AND that includes the shipboard HALLOWEEN Party on halloween.

We're Passholders and last year was our first year at MNSSHP AND MVMCP. We loved them both (Not So Scary slightly a bit more), but we would not go back. As amazingly fun both events were, it's not worth the price.

I'm going to the Halloween Party this year.

I originally thought I would skip it but when I thought about it and realized I won't be back during party time for a few years and I really enjoy the Halloween party.

We have passes and are going for the first time this year. My husband and I agreed that since our youngest is going to be 8, we need to do this stuff while we can. We are sending one away to college and have a high schooler also. We will probably only do it this one time, but who knows. :goodvibes

I heartily agree it's a great time and I do love the whole Halloween feel of the party! It's very well done! As adults, we think it's great.

I suppose having the luxury of the passes, it is always hard for me to pay extra for the special events.

I think this trip around I may sit down the DH, DS7, & DS5 and ask everyone's opinions on what their favorite thing to do at Disney is.

I was simply going over the numbers...after adding the Pirates & Pals cruise, a CBR kids' pirate cruise, the MNSSHP, a YES homeschool day, a character buffet (we like to do at least one while there), and the Pirates League x 2, that adds nearly an extra $1,000 to our trip.

Since we go so often, I'm trying to deduce which experiences to cut out this trip.

I understand what you mean. I always want to do way more while I am there. I am trying to do a few things on each trip, that way we are excited to go back again. Hope you have a great trip!

We have APs and did it 1x. That will be it. I have a DD7 and the only way we would consider it would be if we were there on Halloween night (which we were last time). I love the idea of getting a year at TL or BB instead!
