I was just told there is no way for me and my family to get a MYW package since I have an AP. She said I would still have to buy the 7 day PH for me to be able to book it?? Is that right???? HELP!

Thanks-

you have to get at least a one day base ticket and forgoe the ap discount on the room. Some have found that it's worth it for the dining.

that is correct... but there's a small cost to "getting around" it... book yourself w/a one day ticket (you will have to book your entire party w/one days as all components must be equal at time of booking/checking in) and once you check in, upgrade tickets for those that do not have an ap...

the other option would be to buy the 7 day tix for all in your party (self included) and then use the 7 day as partial payment for your ap (if you don't have it already)...

We are AP holders and just came back from a MYW package stay. You have to pay regular room rates but only need to take a 1 day base ticket per person in the package. The 1 day base ticket does not have an expiry date so you can use it anytime in the future. The 1 day ticket is keyed into your resort key so you just need to hang on to it for future use.

we also did this (with the 1 day ticket) I upgraded two of the tickets and held onto the other two to use toward the price of another AP when mine expires.

It is very worth it if you would normally dine in sit down restaurants while you are there. I had a 4 night trip and saved over $400 by having the dining plan (over the cost of the plan).

So SueEllen, there is absolutely NO problem w/upgrading tix when you arrive at Disneyworld if you book a package w/base tix?? Does it matter if you book through Disney or AAA?? How do you figure the cost of the upgrade?? I want to be able to show the cost comparison to my DH.

Thanks alot-

Bumping this because I have a similar question.

Currently we have 4 adults in our room all with 6day MYW premium tickets. 2 of the adults would really like to have 10 day MYW premium tickets with no exp.

Has anyone only upgraded tickets for some of the people in the room? If so, was this done with ease? Does it matter if it was book with AAA?

Sorry I missed that...

I did not have any problem upgrading the tickets at all. I was going to do it at the resort, but ended up doing it at Guest Services at the park. It was easy and only took a few minutes.

You can upgrade the tickets at check in and yes, just for part of the party, at least that is how I understand it, if I'm wrong someone will surely correct me.

We are booked, in a Value resort, under the Best Rate program. After I made all our ADRs for this 8 night trip last week, I sat and figured out my food budget. Paying cash for all our meals, with the DDE card mind you.

Then I figured out what it would cost, to cancel my Best Rate ressie, pay the $50 fee for changing it ( I would keep the one night I already paid for, room only the first night there) and actually rebooking the last 7 nights as a package with Dining. The package came out less! So, we are switching to the Dining Plan! I added 1 day passes, which I will just save for a future trip.

SueEllen!!!! So, I can use the value of that one day base ticket I added, and put it towards my next AP????
