I talked to a CM today who said that under a new program, AP holders may be ablet to book a dining package without buying tickets. You'd still have to pay for dining plan. As far as I can see, this IS true with the AP discount that's being offered for December 2008, but I haven't confirmed this is true for 2009. Anybody been able to book this for January or February?

If so, I might become an AP holder again....

Darn, and I ended up spending SO much on Disney visits that year.....:surfweb: popcorn::

You couldve booked this 3 months ago. Until the passholder rates come out it will be rack rate but you can always call back and modify it to the discounted rate plus dining

What I'm really considering is a March trip. I think AP room discounts just came out for the winter season that ends around Feb 12, so nothing's going to be released for March for a few weeks yet.

In the past, it was my understanding that in order to book the Dining plan, you had to buy a package which included park tickets, and the meal plan could not be combined with an AP room discount. (though sometimes in the past year Disney DID offer SOME discounted packages which included dining as an option.

The CM said the new change for 2009 booking is that AP holders are no longer required to buy park tickets for all in their party to qualify for the meal plan. I wasn't clear from you answer, you seem to suggest that Disney offered a deal like that back in August. Is that correct?

The AP dining package without tickets came out I think this past april or may, maybe sooner then that. You can book an AP plus dining package without a room discount up until 12/31/09. You can only book an AP plus dining package WITH room discount when the AP rates are out obviously.

We were able to call tonight and get the new AP rates plus deluxe dining. It took some work on the CM's part but she got it done.

I got the AP rate for the Contemporary Magic Kingdom View Tower Room  with the Deluxe Dining Plan added going Jan 26 - Feb 1st. I just checked and those rooms are gone, but tower bay is $294! and wing is $234 if anyone needed those.

Not February, but I am booked with AP plus DxDDP for June and November 2009. Currently I am at rack rate, but I can apply an AP rate if one becomes available.

I am under the impression you can book an AP package that gives you the AP room discount and dining is the rack rate for Jan / Feb 2009. I believe there is a code on the January 2009 Code Watch Thread.

I called yesterday and did room only, but that CM said I could add dining that would make it a package, but it's rack rate since there is such a good room discount...

I booked the dining plan when I booked online for January. Today I was checking and there doesn't seem to be an option for it under any of the promotions. I wanted to change my reservation. We are booked at Pop for 1/17 for $92 a night, but the AP discount is now $99 for a moderate (Saturday night stay--higher rate), so would rather move to the moderate for the same price. I have dining on my original reservation, but the website is not giving me the option now. I'll call today and check on it. We just returned last night, and I haven't even unpacked yet!!

I just hung up the phone with CRO. I booked Pop for $49 a night (AP rate) and she told me we can do any of the dining plans - QS, Basic or Deluxe. Now that I talked DH into this extra trip we'll have to decide if we want to bother with a meal plan or just pay oop.

Don't forget there is the Tables in Wonderland card for AP holders ($60). You can use it at many TS as well as CS at all the Values. It is 20% off and might be worth it to consider. The card is good for about 13 months and after you spend 300 (20% of 300 is the 60) it breaks even.

We have the DDE card already - saved over $700 using it for our wedding week trip - dinner for 20 at Narcoossee's can add up! :rotfl: We aren't going to do a dining plan this time, just wanted to see if it was an option on top of the room discount.

That's great! It is an option as long as it's not the free dining. We did end up doing the Disney Visa free dining in Sept/Oct since even with having to purchase the 1 day passes, in effect we only pd. 193 more for our stay over the AP discounted room at ASMu. We will have the 1 day passes for the future as well. To be honest for us the paid for DDP isn't really worth it. For free it is. Also, for this FD offer we did only have to pay the Value Season rate even though our stay went into regular season. This is supposed to have been the only time that FD has been offered with even a small discount on rooms. (they also had offered a discount on SSR and OKW for the BB for 2009, but not in the past)
