So we are planning a trip this summer and it will be her first. She has M.S. and has some mobility issues at times Along with sensitivity to heat. I'm already planning for the use of a wheelchair at times and trying to stay out of the heat as much as possible. She's a real trooper and this is a dream for her and our daughter. I think I can handle all the common sense stuff but any advice would be great.

Hope you all have a great trip..

You can get those bandanas that have beads in them . when you soak in water they cool you down, Jellybeadz , Cooling neck wrap. and Thermo- guard neck wrap are just to name a few.

you can buy a drink bottle with a mister fan.. at Disneyland.. but we take ours which are much smaller.. got them from the CVS pharmacy on the corner of Katella and Harbor.. but you can get them from some sport shops.

maybe going back to the hotel in the middle of the day to cool off. and then coming back to the parks latter in the afternoon.
if you are going to be using a wheelchair for part of the trip. then I would use it all the time.. this will conserve her energy .. :)

My mother had Lupus so could not stand or walk for long distances and couldn't be in the sun. We rented her a manual wheelchair, it was just easier for us to push her then for her to try the ECV route. She didn't like sitting in the wheel chair all the time so she would get out and use it as a walker every once in a while and we almost always parked it and she stood in line on the few rides she would ride. She wore a long sleeve white shirt, even in the heat of summer and a big floppy hat. Loads of sunscreen and we would always find those out of the way little spots in the shade to just sit and relax for awhile. My son was young when we would take her so she would often sit with him while I rode rides I wouldn't be able to ride otherwise. We would park the wheel chair outside the shops when we went in, there really isn't a lot of room to get around in them. Most importantly don't try to do it all, you can't anyway so slow down and give her time to just take it in. My son was always very patient with MeMaw, he knew she couldn't keep up with him and didn't complain at all about going her pace and she didn't mind sitting and waiting while he and I rode rides. We did NOT use her as a pack mule just because she was in the wheelchair, you'll see lots of people do this with wheel chairs and strollers. We didn't take a big bag into the park nor did we expect the wheel chair to carry our packages. It was too hot to load her down and she needed the room to be able to get into and out of the wheel chair.

I would rent what ever mobility device ( wheel chair ECV) from off site so she has it for out side the parks

as fair as heat

a small umbrella can give you shade when needed and unlike the ones that come with the ECV you can move it to where the sun is. ( but make sure it is small one so you are not poking other guess or CMs )

think about clothing I use omni freez and love them

fans and water spritzers

a cooling cloth like an O2 cool

addd in a few in door show and lunch inside some where to get out of the heat and to rest some

also if she needs to rest for a little during the day you can stop in any first aid station to lye down for a bit this works great if a 15 to 30 minute rest is all she needs more then that I would think about going back to the hotel room

I second stopping into first aid throughout the day for a nice jolt of really cold air conditioning. We always make a couple stops for our son each day, even though we go in mid-November when the heat is typically lower. Push fluids as much as possible. Any quick service location that has water on tap will give you free ice water or ice. Take advantage of that to always have ice cold water to drink. We also had a little cup of ice water with us at all times to soak his cooling rag. There's not always a lot of shade, so definitely invest in something to have over the wheel chair to keep her shaded.
