Any advice with getting an AP rate that's currently not available?

Oh, I know that title doesn't make much sense...

Here's what I'm thinking. The AP rates for our stay were released a few weeks ago and we got a great deal at CBR for our stay. Now, we are there 16 days and got to thinking...why not switch toward the end? I'd love to try WL or POFQ, but haven't been able to get a discount at either place. (We're looking for the first part of Feb, either 4-10 or 6-10; I don't think it's worth it for us to leave CBR for fewer than 4 nights. And yes, we can get something at WL but not something we can afford...even woods view seems a lot more expensive than the standard view.) We've tried maybe half a dozen times so far, and no luck.

Is there much point in keeping trying? 4-6 days, maybe it's too much to hope for. Will more rooms be released for those dates at some point, and if yes, does anyone have any insight on how that's done? I suppose we might get a cancellation, but that seems a really long shot, as I'm not that flexible at this point.

Yes, keep trying! I was doing the same thing (we are staying the second week of December) and ~viola~ the AP rate I was looking for became available when I checked Saturday morning. So, it never hurts to keep calling. Btw, I'd call first thing in the morning. Do you have the toll free number?

Keep trying. There are cancellations all the time. I've gotten last-minute rooms at AP rates in the past. Hang in there! Here's some pixie dust for luck:

We had booked the Poly 1st wk in Dec before the AP rates came out--when I called to see if there was anything there was nothing. I kept checking on the phone and online every couple of days. Then, many weeks later, an AP rate appeared online! In fact, they couldn't find it on the phone, so I just booked it online. Keep checking!
