Any advice on MP3 players?

my dh wants one for his birthday, but I really don't know anything about them. There was something similar that he mentioned that can store a ton of music, but I can't think of the name now and don't want to ask him...wouldn't be much of a surprise. What should I look for? Avoid? Know of any tips on getting a great deal?

I have an MP3 Jukebox which holds so much more than a regular MP3 player. They are most expensive but I LOVE mine and couldn't live without it. OK, well I really could live without it but I wouldn't want to.

I have a 20 GB Rio Riot. I paid around $300 for it last summer. It will hold somewhere in the neighborhood of 4000 songs at a pretty good quality. If you record them at FM radio quality you can get 10,000 songs on it. It has an easy to navigate menu system that lets you select songs by genre, artist, album and song. It also has a great feature called Rio DJ that creates random mixes of the music on your player. You can set it for 15 minutes up to 8 hours and it is like listening to a radio station that only plays songs you like without all the annoying chatter and ads.

I have a Compaq iPaq PM1 that is actually an MP3 player that uses the newer 3 1/2" cds. I got it because on an extended trip, I'm not limited to what the internal memory can hold - I just burn all of my music to the little cds (185 mb each) & take them along. I've found that video game stores are a good source for cases for the cds as they're the same size that the Nintendo GameCube uses! The last time I bought blanks, they were about $25 for a spindle of 50 and the player itself was about $150.
