Any advice on easing morning sickness?

All the thoughts above would be what I would have suggested. I am currently 34 weeks and spent 14 of them sick but rest assured it does end!!! If your vitamins are making you to sick, ask for a different kind. Try to not let your stomach get empty. Sip water all day will keep it full. Eat what you can.
Sea bands helped me tremendously!!! They are the wrist bands with the pressure point that people use for motion sickness. I was teased relentlessly :p by my coworkers for the fashion statement they make but they really help!

Good luck and you can always pm me with any pregnancy questions.

Sea Bands are great aren't they? They were for me. I didn't have to wear them all day though, just when I was in the car. I would at least keep a pair in the car and take some to WDW with you so the motion sickness doesn't aggravate your "morning" sickness.

I never had "morning" sickness. All mine seemed to come at night with this last pregnancy. The reason I didn't have it in the morning was because I kept a case of Sprite and some crackers by my bed. Sip some Sprite (or 7 Up or Gingeraile) and have some crackers before your feet even touch the floor. Snacking all day helped me (although it probably explains all this leftover fat that I can't seem to get rid of) I always snacked on whatever I craved, which was mostly ice-cream and cookies (mixed together or eaten seperately)

The vitamins made me BARF every time. With my first I had to stick with the ones I was taking (for some reason the dr. didn't want to change my vitamins). So whenever I took the vitamin I would have a sliced up apple or an orange or something to eat right after I took it. The smell and the taste of those vitamins was so awful! With my second (I had a different dr.) my dr was nice enough to give me a different kind of vitamin. It had less iron in it (which he says is what made me sick) and it released the iron slowly into my system instead of all at once. If you still have problems though, buy some Flinstones chewables. Some days I just couldn't bring myself to take my vitamins and my dr said Flinstones was better than nothing.

You probably also might want to invest in some Tums. Trust me, its not just for the extra calcium. It seemed once my morning/night sickness went away I went straight into the heart burn phase. Changing my diet didn't help either. I could drink a glass of water and get heart burn. For me it was even worse than the morning sickness. I remember I had heart burn so bad when I went in to have DS and they wouldn't let me take my Tums :( It was the weirdest thing too....as soon as I pushed him out, the heart burn just vanished. And you know that story people tell about if you have a lot of heart burn your baby will have a head full of hair? SO NOT TRUE! DS was as bald as could be. I looked at him for the first time and I think the first words out of my mouth were, "What happened to all the hair?" :)

Good Luck and I hope you feel better soon. Keep us updated :)

Congratulations!!! I hope you are enjoying your pregnancy despite the tummy aches.

I was sick well into the ninth month. I never had to be hospitalized, but I threw up all the time. I lost weight for the first 5 months! I only say that to say I tried EVERYTHING! And at different stages, different things worked. So, here is my list, and you can try them. Good luck!

I have to brush my teeth first thing in the morning. I cannot/could not eat before brushing, so the eating in bed thing was out for me.

The following was a diet I followed for a long, long time.

Lots of these are easy to carry in your purse or keep in the car:
Peppermint candies (with real peppermint oil) - suck on them
Lemon drops - (with real lemon) suck on them
Archway ginger cookies
B6 vitamins (doc can probably also recommend others to help)
Tums (I didn't have heart burn, but I belched like Bart Simpson all the time!) Also, good for settling the stomach
Ginger ale
Sea bands - The didn't work for me, but you might as well try them
Packaged Cheese and crackers
Packaged Peanut Butter and crackers
In extreme situations, Dramamine (especially helpful when traveling) Of course, check with your doc first!

Take your pre-natals at night so they can digest in your stomach.

Caffeine - If your doc doesn't mind. SInce I couldn't keep anything down, he said this was okay since it eased the throwing up. ALso, some times a hot drink made me feel better:
Coffee (less caffeine than soda)
Tea (less caffeine than coffee) With ginger, peppermint, etc.

When you are too sick to eat anything, you have to eat something, so head for a protien, it is supposed to help with the sickness:
Mashed potatoes - no gravy or butter (KFC was very helpful here)
Baked potato - no fixins (Wendy's was helpful here) (to this day, I no longer eat baked potatoes)
Peanut Butter - if you can live with the smell and after taste
Granola bars with peanut butter
Cheese
Bologna (I hate this normally)
Avoid fried foods

The wierdest thing that happened to me. I would throw up anytime I saw this one commercial. It was of a woman shoving food into a toaster. Not sure what the product was, but it made me throw up if I saw it!

Eat what you crave!!!

Doctors are usually quick to help with the throwing up, because throwing up causes you to become dehydrated, and being dehydrated can send you into early labor, so be sure and ask your doc for help with morning sickness.

If I think of anything else, I will return to edit my post. Otherwise, congratulations and enjoy! Good luck with the morning sickness!

I, too, had morning sickness 24 hrs a day. It started in week six and ended in week 13. Unfortunately, I tried a lot of the things the ladies are suggesting and none worked. I wore the sea bands 24 hrs/day. Jolly ranchers made me throw up. Tums made me throw up. Ginger did nothing (ginger ale, fresh grated ginger, ginger snaps). Lemon candies. Saltines or cheerios before I lifted my head off the pillow. My vitamins definitely made it worse so they changed my prescription with no change and then had me do the Flintstones. I couldn't even choke those down! It just became a trial and error thing. I tried whatever sounded good and stuck with it. The only thing I found that made me feel slightly better were McDonald's shakes - chocolate or vanilla. Had to be McDonald's, though. Burger King made me sick. Just keep trying things and hopefully you'll stumble upon one that works for you. With any luck, at 9 weeks, the end is near. Good luck!

Congratulations!!

I too am pregnant and this pregnancy is totally different than my first one. I am sick all the time with this one. The one and only thing that has helped me is Ginger Ale - not diet!! I have not vomited but have been nauseaous (sp?) since the beginning - I am currently 15 weeks!!

I am going to try some of these ideas too - thanks for creating this thread!!

Good luck and I hope it passes soon!!

Lisa
