Me, my mother and daughter (17) are driving from Austin, TX the first part of June. Anyone out there make the trip before and might have some advice? How far did you get on the first day? Kind of anxious about 3 women traveling alone. Any advice or comments would be appreciated!

We drive from South Louisiana. One thing for sure: once past Pensacola, it is a long stretch before Tallahassee! Make sure you're on a full tank of gas! It probably isn't that bad, but pulling a 5th wheel - and requiring diesel - in the middle of the night. We kept thinking, "maybe the next exit?"

Have fun - go at your leisure and enjoy yourself.

Just did the drive from Dallas.
Previous poster is right. After Pensacola its a long haul..There are some stops between Pensacola and Tallahassee to fill up. There is a Ramada Limited at the turn off for Eglin AFB area that has room rates of 57.00 after tax. We stayed there on the way back.

We left at 0400 Dallas time and drove for 14.5 hours and made it to Lake City, FL where I10 and I75 cross. From Lake city it was only 2.5 hours to MK. You shouldnt have any trouble reaching Tallahassee.

Enjoy the drive.
