Any advice for Vegetarians?

I'm travelling with my girlfriend to WDW in April. She's a vegetarian, and I just wondered whether anyone could recommend some good places to take her to eat.

Check out www.allearsnet.com for complete menus. Most all sit-down restaurants have at least one veggie entree and certainly seafood options if she just doesn't eat meat. Counter service is a little more tricky.

I know Columbia Harbour House in MK has veggie chili, Tusker House in AK has a veggie hummus sandwich on foccacia and there is a veggie pizza at Pizza Planet in MGM. These are all counter service lunches that we feel are good. My husband does not eat red meat or pork so we have a little experience with this!

I'm sure your friend will have no problem as long as you do a little planning. Enjoy!

There is a book about vegetarians and WDW. Someone else will be able to give you the details. I just remember reading about it here. If you check amazon.com and do a search, I'm sure you can find it. Apparently it is excellent.

My DH is a vegetarian as well and we just got back from WDW. We had no problem finding him food. WDW does a good job. It appears all table service restaurants have at least one vegetarian entree on the menu. Many times we would end up picking the restaurant by the veggie entree served. My DH likes to order off the menu, not a talk to the chef type. From other posters, the chefs are great making something to suit your needs.

Places we ate:
Boma - DH really liked it here! Lots of choices.
Jiko - Good Appetizers, Peas, grains and ?, - good
Plaza Restaurant - Veggie Sandwich (lunch)
Rainforest Cafe - Did this for the kids - Veggie Sandwich
Whispering Canyon - They had a good dish - it had changed since allears menu
Mama Melrose - veggie pasta dish without the chicken - good
Marrakesh - Veg. CousCous - just OK
Rose and Crown - A curry veg/rice dish - I think he really comes here for the guiness and the sticky toffee pudding! LOL
Kona - asian pasta dish (lunch) -

I didn't write down the breakfasts (CRT, CP & CM)they are easy.

Check out the menus on Allearsnet.com.

I have good friends who are vegatarians and their favorite place to eat at Disney is Boma.

I try to eat "plant meals" for lunch, and two of my WDW favorites are veggie sandwiches at Tusker House in AK and Starring Rolls in MGM. Both are great.

Grat advice aboce--is she vegan or ovo-lacto? If she's ovo-lacto, you'll find something for her at pretty much every restuarant. If she's vegan, it will require more advance planning. Jiko and the California Grill both have tremendously innovative vegan dishes.

At WDW ,remember that sometimes meat stocks are used in dishes which apeear to be vegetarian, so the best bet is to always ask!
