Any advantage to booking 2019 rooms now?

Is there any advantage to booking rooms now for March 2019? If we book now, do we pay current room rates or will we pay the increased rates next year? We'd definitely want to use a discount if it becomes available (though doubtful for Spring Break time).

We booked ours for February 2019, just to make sure we had the room as we had already booked flights. You can amend/ cancel the booking at any time and we were specifically told by the phone operator to make sure we kept checking the package deals/ discounts as they become available (in Summer, no definite dates), which we will do. As far as I am aware, we will be paying the 2019 rates, though the deposit was based on 2018 rates.

The way I saw it is that this way we definitely have a room for the dates we want and we can change it all up later if we want to.

We were sort of thinking along the same line as you. We know we'll have a room for sure at a busy time of year. Thanks!

If you book now, you will be quoted the highest rate for 2018 for that resort/room type, which will automatically be adjusted once the 2019 rates are released. If you will be going regardless of discounts, it's not a bad idea to book early so you get exactly what you want (especially since it's spring break time). With that said, if you will only go with a discount or want a package, it doesn't really help booking now. If you book RO now with the intent to change to a package later, the RO will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new deposit. Since RO and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other.

It would remain RO. I don't do the DDP and tickets would come from UCT.
