I know this may seem like a strange question but here is why I am asking......

I work with developmentally disabled adults who all have a psychiatric disability as well. As you can imagine, things can often be really REALLY stressful. Today was one of those days.....so was yesterday and the day before. For some reason it has just been one of those weeks.

Most of my group was really great in the face of 2 people yelling and screaming for most of the day. My co-worker and I had recently bought them all new crayons, colored pencils and markers. Today, as a treat for being so good, we gave them some free time. Most of them went right for the art supplies and started to draw and color. Gwen and I sat with them and participated along with everybody. I had SO much fun and it was more relaxing than I expected it would be. Funny how you can sort of get lost in a box of 24 basic colors and make more colors and great pictures.

So, anyone else out there find coloring relaxing and sort of like therapy???

Thanks for humoring me...LOL......

Linda

I do. My daughter loves to color and has many of coloring books that she goes through every day. It is very relaxing.

Yes, I had coloring books in college and when I needed a break, I would color in them.

My DD, who is 18, just recently got a Disney Princesses coloring book that she enjoys coloring.

I have not done it in awhile, but I too find coloring to be a great stress reducer. Hmmm, I think I might just go get myself some coloring stuff tonight!

Oh yeah, I love to color! My boys love to color, so we do so all the time around here. We've got a fresh box of Crayolas sitting in the cabinet. I love using the new, pointy ones. :teeth:

I love it! I love restaurants that give out crayon packs and pictures to color. The waitstaff usually look sat me a little oddly, but it's worth it...I'm such a kid.:)

Normally I would not admit this, but I color at the denist's office and doctor's. They have coloring pages for kids to do while they wait. At my house, however, coloring has come to be a torture tactic DD uses on me.

We are getting ready for a road trip. We bought stuff for the kids, and then my DH asked for some coloring books and crayons.

I bought him a Hulk coloring book, and a pack of 24 crayons.

I guess my DH wants to color on the road trip.

I sit and color with my boys all the time I love it, its good time to spend with them!

I always buy colors and a coloring book when we are going on a really long trip. Its relaxing, it passes the time and you don't get a headache like you do when trying to read while on a trip.

As a matter of fact when my son was a baby I decorated his room with Disney pictures that I had colored.

Hello,
I am Heidi, 37yrs old and I love to color :D I have about 12 coloring books and 4 boxes of crayons(96,64,16,& 8 count).

Which reminds me...we haven't done that in a while! Good idea for tonight, thanks! :)

When I sub in the lower ed classes I love to sit and color right along with the children. :D

They make a box of 96????????

Here I am lusting after a mere 64! Uh Oh, now I am really in trouble.............

Ive always liked coloring with my kids. Unfortunately, neither of them like it much.

When I make time to do it, yes I like to color and I find it very therapeutic also. I should make it a point to try and do this when I am stressed out instead of eating!
