Any A/C service people out there?

I just had my heat pump coils cleaned because the heat pump was not keeping things cool enough. In the process of cleaning the coils, the A/C guy noticed that the gas heat pack on my unit is cracked. He disconnected it and I have to get that fixed before I can use my heat this winter. I am wondering if that is cheaper or getting the A/C changed to electric would be cheaper. Nothing else in my house uses gas, so I really don't know why I have gas heat in the first place.

I've always found gas heat to be cheaper than electric.

Well, I have to pay gas year round, even though I only use the heat for about 5 months. I find my electric + gas bill in the winter is about 20% more than my electric bill in the summer. That's why I'm wondering. Plus the gas can cause carbon monoxide poisoning, which scares me, even with the detector.
