Anuone out there actually prepared to pay $575 a night?

OK, let me provide a frame of reference...

for $575 a night, you can rent a private villa in the Caribbean on the island of St John. Your villa would have from 1-3 bedrooms and have a private pool overlooking the Caribbean sea. I am not talking about a condo-villa. I am talking about a private, luxury-rental home on the hillside over a luxuriously tranquil beach where the water is so clear that you can watch the fish swim from your verandah...where nobody can see you skinny-dipping in your private pool.

You would pick fresh fruit from your papaya, banana or passion-fruit plant for your breakfast.

Rather than spending days at the WDW parks, you would spend them on the various white-sand, crystal clear beaches, fringed with palm trees and rum punch drinks. Your children will snorkel, climb sea-grape trees and collect genips to snack on.

Rather than rent the water-mice in the lagoon, you would charter sailboats with captains to take you to islands without docks, where you would rub-shoulders with Kenny Chesney and other celebs looking to remain anonymous amogst people who don't care who they are....because real-life is too good to care about TV and radio people.

The loudest noise you would hear would be the patter of rain on your villa's roof during the 4am rainshower that washes down the island each morning...and your own sigh as you rise to meet the sun over the mountain of the nearest island, dotting the emerald sea before you.

For $575 a night - that's what I'd take!

Nice prose and some good points but, as they say, to each their own....what works for you may not be the same for everyone else....

Staying onsite for the first time at WDW very soon and will pay $325/night, and I intend to love every minute of it, even without the freshly picked bananas....

Not for SSR, that's for sure. I'd do it for CR MK View w/concierge service and whatever else they could throw in there, such as free dining, but no way for $575.00 for any resort.

and I'm glad we did it at the time. APs were reasonable and there were a lot of discounts to be had with APs even at Christmas. I would never do it now. I rather use the extra money for nicer meals, souvenirs, special shows, etc. In fact, you could take two trips with the money saved on this place. I don't think a 40% code would even convince me to do SSR.

I saw the place last year and I would absolutely not even do a time share there. It's too far away from the action.

By the way, we have the means to do it, but I was thought value and this is not value. Other posters have made comparisons with other places and SSR falls short on all counts.

It took me a while to wake up about the Disney Deluxes in general, but it's just not worth it for us. I will choose other ways to flash my money.

If I were to stay at a deluxe now, I think AKL is the best value. With all the construction and time shares happening there right now the window of opportunity to stay there will probably be gone soon.

Last fall while staying at BWV 1 bedroom, I added one night to my reservation to the tune of $500. (or pretty darn close.) At the time, I was tired, had a day left on our park tickets, had just sold a house so had extra cash, and thought "what the heck." NOW I think "I cannot believe I paid rack rate for even one night!" It was a gorgeous room with a fantastic view, but not worth $500.

This fall's vacation I'm staying off site in a 2 bedroom condo for $418 total for two weeks. I'm worried about not being "in the magic" the whole time, but my wallet will be happier.

I know there are lots of people who CAN afford the price of $575 a night and regularly pay that or more for GF concierge, even during value season.

Just for fun I looked at the WDW website for Xmas eve at the GF Royal Palm (Main Bldg.) Club level. I knew it would be expensive but Holy Moly! Over $1000 for one night! But the kicker is the 2 BR suite in Sugarloaf @ almost $2400 one night as priced below

$325 for a deluxe monorail/MK resort is much more reasonable than $575 for a studio, IMO. We paid rack rate in late May/early June for the Poly, but I agree with most others. Unless it was an extra special occasion (like I just started sneezing out $100 bills), I doubt it.

As a matter of fact, we're jumping up and down because our code had an opening in the first week of December. We'll just pretend it's Christmas. I'm like a department store, though, I start playing Christmas music before the candy digests from Halloween. It won't be a challenge to pretend.

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who is actually prepared to pay $575 a night to stay at Disney over Christmas. This is how much they want for SSR. We stayed there last year from 19th to 27th for $222 a night using the 40% off code and took advantage of checking in on the last day of value season. This year, no code and individual pricing so just interested who would book at these prices. Our block was completely empty last year until Xmas Eve and then definitely not full. Have booked for FW this year from 17th to 27th but desperately hoping for some sort of discount for SSR.
Interested to hear anyone elses opinion.
