Looking for antivirus software recommendations...need to get some for DD's laptop since the 30 day trial it came with will be up soon. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

We've been using the free version of AVAST on our desktop and DW's laptop for almost two years now. Great solution, just startles the wife every now again when it announces... "VIRUS DATABASE HAS BEEN UPDATED."

I've used AVG in the past and liked it fine, but on Leo Laporte's recommendation I'm trying MS Security Essentials on my laptop to see how it works. So far, so good.

Been using for a couple of years and I agree that I still jump when I hear the guy say "virus database has been updated". It always seems to happen at night when it's dark and I'm watching something scary on TV!

I'll fourth... err... fifth... whatever... I lost count for Microsoft Security Essentials. My experience has been that Security Essentials has a very small footprint compared to other products causing a much lesser hit on system performance.

Well said. I do not notice any power drain at all with MSE.

AVG and its free...can't beat that. Our IT guy suggested it.
