In less than a month, my girlfriend and i will be visiting WDW and i have found myself thinking about all that walking and chafing!

Now, saying this, I am by no means pooh-sized (look at me learning the lingo) but i don't want anything to put a potential downer in our way.

I have before chafed on my thighs on particularly humid days when walking long distances, and i was wondering if anyone has experienced this in WDW or orlando? and also, any ideas for beating the problem!

thanks in advance!

Have your GF go to Target or WalMart and find Monistat Anti-Chafing Powder/ Gel. It's about 5 bucks and it works beautifully for what you're describing. It goes on as a gel but then turns to powder. It's also odorless.

I mean, you could go buy it but it's in the aisle with the yeast infection medicine (and tampons) even though this product has nothing to do with that. ;)

Just noticed you're in Ireland- not sure if you are inundated with Target & WalMart stores but any large pharmacy should have it.

Well we're not pooh-sized either, but dh is a runner and a lot of his fellow running mates use body glide to prevent chafing. Around here, it's sold in a lot of sporting goods stores. If you don't have it over there, you might try online. I heard it works wonders! good luck and have a fabulous trip!:)

Gold Bond Medicated Powder

In the green bottle

Apply liberally and frequently.

You'll thank me.

Believe it or not, diaper rash cream also works. In a pinch, you can usually find that in the Disney gift shops even if they don't have body glide and the other stuff.

Here is another vote for Body Glide. DH has the same concerns about chafing from lots of walking, but has been very comfortable since we started getting Body Glide before our trips. I also put it on my feet before putting on socks, since I tend to get sore spots from the socks rubbing from so much walking (not blisters, more like chafing) and the Body Glide keeps me from getting any sore spots.

Preventative: underarmor compression shorts with the 7" inseam. I'm not a fan of gels/goos/powders all over my bits.

IF you do end up getting a rash- take a tube of cooling hydrocortisone cream. I AM pooh-sized (size 18) and I've had really bad heat rash this summer. I slap that on the rashes right before bed (I sleep in just a t-shirt to let it all air out) and it's all better the next morning!

Oh, and avoid cotton underwear- it traps moisture like you wouldn't believe!

Proactive- Gold Bond Powder
Reactive- Hydrocortisone Cream

To quote Brian Fantana; "60 percent of the time, it works every time!"

Buy compression shorts(Under Armour makes great ones.)to wear under your shorts and use Gold Bond Body Powder. This works great for me in the GA heat when I play softball tournaments all day long. Lots of guys get chaffed but I never seem to. I also did the same on our last Disney trip.

I have to agree with the two above posters. I use Under Armour compression shorts when I go to Disney Parks and they work great. No mess from cream, gels, and powders.

Another vote for either Bodyglide of Monistat Anti-Chaffing Gel. Both work like a charm, and are very lightweight (not greasy at all). Put either on your inner thighs, and you should be set pretty much all day.

Also, if you wear longer walking shorts, you shouldn't have a problem with chaffing. But if you wear shorter shorts (or if your girlfriend wears dresses), this can definitely be a problem.

Just for myself, I can't imagine wearing the compression shorts or bike shorts that others are recommending, underneath your other clothes. Florida is hot enough without two layers of shorts! I say, go lighter-weight and just use Bodyglide or Monistat.

I was a collegiate rower, so I lived in spandex 9 months out of the year. They're actually not that warm

The Under Armour compression shorts will wick away moisture from your body creating a cooling effect, unlike cotton underwear will moisture will just sit and not evaporate. They are not for everybody but my friends who I suggested to try them really enjoyed them.

I am a wdw vet and i am pooh sized. I have dealt with chafing on many trips over the last seveal years - could never find body glide when I thought of it before our trips. On our trip last month I finally tried gold bond powder (regular yellow bottle) at the recommendation of one of the podcasters. In 90+ degree heat and what felt like 1000% humidity the last week of June, I had zero chafing with the gold bond powder! :cool1: I now use it daily to keep dry and cool!
