Okay, you all know how holiday get-togethers with family are. :teeth:
Yesterday, one of our subjects was of course our cruise. Which circled around to eating at the "Captain's Table" (we all remember the Love Boat don't we?). I said that in as long as I'd been reading the Dis Boards I'd never seen eating dinner at the Captain's table mentioned. DH found it hard to believe that DCL doesn't do that. So my Dis friends, can someone confirm for me whether or not DCL does the Captain's Table thing? Or don't any of the cruiselines do it anymore?

Yes, they do it. :)

Those who are invited to dine with the captain eat at PALO (the adults-only restaurant), though, there is not an assigned Captain's table in any of the regular dining rooms.

Hope that helps! :)

My hubby and I were lucky enough to be invited to dine with the Captain on our 8/3/02 cruise. We were very excited to go. When we got to Palo we were seated in a little area and served some wine. We met up with the three other couples also having dinner with the Captain. We were then escorted to a table for 10 (captain and wife) and given beautiful menus that had our longitude and latitude on them along with a group photo of the table (that came the next day to our cabin). There were place cards with our names on them and it was all very classy!!! Unfortunately the Captain could not make it to dinner due to a cuban refugee situation that was occuring. He sent his apologies with the VP of DCL who was also onboard. He did not join us but send regards from the Captain. We still enjoyed a wonderful dinner with the other couples and it was a lovely evening!!!

It was very sad to see the boat with 3 or 4 adults and a young boy who had no shirts on. They had been on the ocean for days and had run out of water. The Magic was assisting them and the Captain obviously had his hands full while all this was going on. I belive the outcome was that we met up with a Coast Guard ship and the refugees were put on the CG vessel. I think they were sent back to Cuba. This was on the Western cruise on our way to CC (Thursday night).
