That is not an option.

The options are keep the 17th which I have booked or a 7-night in August. Not all of us are scared of heat.

I live in Arizona by the way. Maybe some of us just get tired of it . You did ask what would you do. Didn't you?

I don't think now is the decision time. If you have your deposit for your 2019 cruise, just keep it there right now and wait it out as long as camp dates will be given in a reasonable time frame.

I heard back from the Federation Chair and she said that Camp is always in July around the same time frame, so I have emailed my TA to change.

Also when I priced it on my own, I discovered that the 7 night in August is pretty much the same rate OR LESS than the Double Dip! So...yeah. That then entered into it as well.

It’s fine to celebrate (if one feels the need to do that), it’s just all the other pesky people celebrating in their own often loud and irritating ways that’s my issue. If we could all hang out and have a party that’s not too loud, lets people sleep, etc, then that would be terrific.

And, frankly, having the freedom to run away to Canada (just after their own celebrations) feels like the best way to demonstrate freedom. Woo!

It's always interesting how there is a perception that there is only one way to acknowledge/enjoy certain holidays, places to live, etc.

All officially changed to the 8/24/19 Fantasy Eastern! Cabin 10000! This one is scheduled at this time for Tortola and St Thomas - over a year out, so we shall see what the conditions are then. If they both go, those will be new ports for me. And THREE sea days!! Woohoo!!

Sounds great. This time slot is usually cheaper than the others, not because of Hurricane season, but because so many schools have started up by this time. Since your school hasn't started yet, you are smart to take advantage of that. Three sea days, and new to you ports? Sounds like an easy call! Plus you get to keep the Karate camp too! Everything fell into place nicely!

Well she did ask what would you do so I answered as such. Maybe OP should change her threads to what should I do. Im not sure why you need approval from others anyway.

The parameters I gave for choices were in the poll. Keep July 17 or move to a 7-night August 24. July 3 was NEVER an option in my mind and I explained my reasoning to another poster - you made it into an option. Ergo you didn’t answer the true question.

I did mention I would not go to the Caribbean in the Summer meaning my choice would be the Bahamas regardless of the date.Although I do think the 4th would be fun. You responded with some of us aren't afraid of the heat which came across a little snarky to me, but I'm glad you got it all worked out.

All posts asking for input/feedback clearly imply "given my specific set of circumstances, what would you do." I wouldn't think the first half of that phrase would need to be spelled out for anybody. If you're going to give advice, try to put yourself in the position of the one asking and consider their specific situation/wants/needs/parameters/etc. Not hard.

I also don't understand why anyone would think that soliciting input from other experienced cruisers who are (mostly) DCL fans is the same as asking for "approval". She's just running her ideas by people. Sometimes you just need to talk things out; what better place to discuss a DCL cruise conundrum than a DCL forum? I thought that's what these boards were for. Nobody's asking for approval.

Maybe because I've done Bahamas multiple times but the Eastern sounds great. As I always say: prepare a plan B in case your plans change and stay positive.

Most of the time, everything is fine and there are little to no change.

Glad you got it worked out, and it sounds like the 7 night will be tons of fun! My answer would have been "make the decision after I can find out camp dates," so...you already did that.

Honestly, after the big "would you..." thread about sailing in August in general, it sounds like most people don't have issues with the heat or the hurricane risk, and that it comes down to personal preference. For a seven night going at the same price as a four night, I might even brave an August sail date despite being a delicate northern flower.

My dd's school is usually done the Frid. before Memorial Day, but this year and next they have to go back the Tues and Wed after Memorial Day, I think that's bad(stupid, if I'm being honest), I can't imagine having to go nearly all of June! Sounds like you are going to have a very busy and fun summer, looking forward to reading your trip reports.

To be fair, we don't go back until after Labor Day - so we get all of July and August.

I try to do something fun each summer. This year it is a Greek Isles cruise. Then just after school starts we are out for Rosh Hashanah so I'm going to WDW for 4 nights.
