Another WOC question...I'm sorry!

We will be visiting July 21-23 (Tues to Thurs). I am debating on doing the WOC dining. None of us have the patience to sit there for 90 minutes to get a decent view. I am debating between Carthay Circle and WCT. Most likely for lunch. So considering the time of year we are going, my questions are....
1. Can we eat lunch and get a fastpass for the second show of the night? Different websites say different things.
2. How do the viewing areas compare for each one?
3. How does the food compare?
4. If you have visited either with a child with food allergies, how was the service?
Thanks so much for any info!!

I went to the World of Color on Thursday (June 4). We got a fastpass around 1:15 for the 9:00 showing in the yellow section. We did not do the dining, but showed up about 15 minutes before the show to get a spot. There were plenty of spots available at that time, and our view was incredible (we got drenched, however). I don't have the patience to wait around either so hope that helps :)

We just did the WCT dining package for WOC on May 29th. WOC was great, but WCT was awful. It took us over two hours for the meal due to the terrible service. We had two with allergies. They do have an allergy menu, but if you have a non-standard allergy, you will still need to request to speak with the chef (we waited quite a while for him). It also took our server a LONG time to come back. I have a walnut allergy and chose to order off of the allergy menu. I ordered the Quatro Pomodoro with penne (which the server listed as a choice). I received spaghetti with tomatoes and sauce. The server who brought the dish out argued with me that they don't have penne. Another server explained that they did have it, but it was gluten free. They took it back and eventually brought out penne with sauce. My mom has a pepper allergy, but ended up ordering off of the regular menu. The server ordered her something different off of the allergy menu anyway. It took us quite a while to figure it out though, so with all of the other issues we didn't complain about it. My brother requested water and the server brought him soda. When he brought the soda, he spilled it. My brother again requested water and the server walked away, leaving the spill on the table. After quite a while we waved down another server and asked for napkins so that we could wipe up the table. When dessert time came my brother received the regular dessert tray that comes with the WOC meal. My mother and I both received raspberry sorbet. We asked why and were told that we have allergies. We said we wanted the regular dessert as there were no hot pepper in the desserts, and I explained that I had eaten the desserts on a previous meal with no problems. The server told us no. An argument about this ensued and finally, quite a while later, the manager came to our table with the desserts. Needless to say, it was NOT a pleasant meal.

1. We always do the Carthay Circle WOC as I am not known to wait. I think it says you can show up 60 minutes prior to show but we always go 15 minutes before and have NEVER had a problem (In 10-12 times).
They don't advertise it but you can ask for any seating time. We love the CC seating area, I'm vertically challenged and have a 4yr old and we've never had an issue with the viewing area. Come to think of it, I've never seen WOC from anywhere but the Dining areas.
2. Only have done CC but love the area
3. I don't like WCT, prefer CC and love the food - make sure you budget to add the biscuits and duck wings to your WOC package, can't be missed.
4. Never dealt with allergies, but I've heard CC is pretty good at substituting for them. We love CC and eat there every trip.

Agree that CC is worlds above WCT in Food, Service, and Atmosphere. If you have the choice, choose CC.

CCR has always been great at dealing with my food allergies. But the more info you can give when you make your reservation, at check in, and with your server, the better things will go. You may or may not need to meet with a chef (depends on the allergy), but our servers have been very helpful with checking on things in my order with the kitchen staff.
We've never had trouble at WCT either (and I know another poster on this board had a great time with all her dietary needs -- the chef at that time created a special meal, but there had been LOTS of communication beforehand about these special needs), but I agree that the service can be slow. Fine with us since we usually book so that we can be there to watch the Pixar Play Parade while we eat. If you plan ahead for a relaxing meal, you should be fine.

I hate to be the voice of dissent, but, my DD and I ate at Carthay Circle twice on our trip last week (May 29th and May 31st) and the service was awful. We both have food allergies and were told different things would be safe on our 2 visits (2 days apart). The server on the second visit argued with us and the chef sent out dishes with food we were allergic to. We have never had a problem with Carthay Circle before and I did speak to a manager, but, we will not be returning to Carthay Circle ever! We were very, very disappointed.

Make sure to send a comment to Disney about your experience. They need to know about things like this.

This thread is very helpful. Some people say arrive 90 minutes before the show other say 15 is fine. It's great to hear more and more feedback on this.

Yes, thank you for all the feedback, especially concerning the allergies. It is my son (8) and he is allergic to eggs, peanuts and tree nuts. I am thinking some plain pasta or something would be fine, but something tells me their pasta has egg in it, but they may carry allergy friendly pasta as well?

The 90 minutes recommendation is really for very crowded days or if there is a specific viewing spot that you want. On less crowded days, if you aren't picky about your viewing spot, or if you are blessed to be tall, then much less waiting time is needed.

I would check the menus on Allears.net to see what the options are, then call Disney to ask about the pasta. Make sure to note all the allergies when you make your reservation. And I noticed on our last visit to CCR, the hostess asked about my allergies when we checked in as well. She passed the info on to our server who confirmed the details with me. If I had needed to speak with a chef, I would have asked at check in and with our server, too. The CMs just seemed to be much more allergy aware than they had been on our previous visits.

The menu mentioned gluten free pasta, but I don't recall it mentioning egg free. I would definitely call ahead to ask. It gets exhausting trooping from restaurant to restaurant trying to find something you can eat. We figured clam chowder would surely be safe for a pepper allergy, but alas, all of the soups are made with Tabasco or Serrano peppers. My mom was practically in tears by the time the chef at Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta finally agreed to make her up a plate of the kids Mac and cheese, the ONLY thing in the restaurant he could say had no peppers in it.

Oh gosh. We've had great experiences the times we have been in Disney World with the chefs coming out and making something great. I feel like a lot of the time when they have something safe like lets say chicken tenders, it tends to be safe for the top 8 allergies and sometimes gluten as well. I think we are only doing one sit down meal, but I am going to call and see what info I can get them to give me over the phone. Thanks again! Any other input on the viewing areas?
