Wife and I did the Wish on 8/5. This was our 5th cruise, some with kids and some without.
Amazing Things:
* The cast and crew, great as always and they all make you feel special
* The Rose, wonderful space, great staff and drinks
* Keg and Compass, best hangout place for us and great tots
* The food, fantastic at dinner, FF and MM. Best food on any of the cruises I've been on. Didnt have time for a fancy dinner, but we will take care of that next time
* The Bayou, again for the drinks and entertainment
* Castaway, that really is my favorite place
* The Frozen dinner show was wonderful
Strange Things:
* A lot of lights out, not one or two, but dozens. It bars, hallways, everywhere.
* Deck 4 walking or lack of. Was finally able to walk around the ship on the last day. Lots of steep narrow stairs.
* Speaking of stairs, lots of different sized steps on deck 11 to deck 12. Lots of stumbling and near falls. Some were super steep with narrow treads, specifically from deck 11 to the adult section.
* Certain high traffic areas seemed quite narrow with odd chokepoints.
* Front of the ship, where the Shipside Promenade looks down on the Senses Spa area. The spa area had no view, and it felt like the promenade was a strange viewing area to the Spa area below. Seems like that whole area just had lots of wasted space.
* The cabins with the bump out balconies, we were in one of them and it really changes the privacy feel. I had way more visibility into other stateroom balconies than I was comfortable with, and they could see way more of my balcony than I was comfortable with. It just seems like less private and kinda creepy.
Bad Things:
* Carl's Hyperspace Basement Lounge: Carl finally convinced his wife to make a star wars lounge in his basement on the condition he didn't make changes to the ceiling or the floor incase his wife wants to switch it back to the christmas wrapping room. And Carl also hasn't quite figured out drinking making and offered several that mix citrus and cream. Moons of Endor and the Astroid Belt, just gross. He did get to show off his big screen TV and a few bubbly containers, but but not much else going on.
* Safepassage pretesting, we crossed every t and dotted every i, everything on the website showed green and we still got pulled aside for 30 minutes at the last checkpoint while they figured out some glitch in the system.
* Guest Services Appointments. We used them twice, the first time on the first day and there wasn't a separate queue for folks with appointments, it lead to an uncomfortable confrontation with another guest. A crew member quickly stepped in to fix the issue, but if you are pushing for appointments clearly identify where you should line up for those. The second time we had an appointment and there was not even a sign out for appointments. It caused another round of confusion for us and other guests while it was sorted out.
Overall it was a great cruise on the new Wish. I think I hyped it up in my head to much. If I didn't mention something here it was between fine and good, but didn't stand out to much in my head. Would gladly go on it again.
