Another when to go thread...

Looking for advice from BTDTs. Late August or Sept/Oct

So far my pros and cons are like this..

Late August Pro
Can stay 8 nights instead of 6 since the kids aren't in school and I won't feel guilty about pulling them from school
No pulling them from school
Never been in August
Getting to do more since we would stay longer

Late August Cons
Err.. sounds pretty hot. Like non stop steamy hot. All day every day.

Sept/Oct Pros
I loved MNSSHP and would consider doing it again
One last fling with warm weather
Low crowds

Sept/Oct cons
Pulling the kids from school
Already BTDT late sept into oct, maybe should try something new?

We're big advocates of low crowds being a huge plus!

I completely get not wanting to pull kids out of school and certainly don't want to turn this thread into that debate.
BUT....it's a family vacation, they are rare and your kids are only the perfect age to love Disney World for a small window. Creating lasting memories on a wonderful family vacation is priceless, missing a few days (even a week) of school is worth it in my opinion. And we believe that making that vacation as wonderful as possible by maximizing how much you can ride and avoiding long lines is worth it. Plan ahead, work with the teacher to minimize the impact and I think everything will be fine.

Does your kid's school system have a fall break? It might lessen the time out of school if you can plan around some time off from school. Our school system puts their upcoming calendars on their website fairly early.

I haven't been in August in more than 10 years and I would hesitate to go then just because of the heat and humidity. But then again, the weather has been doing some odd stuff in the past couple of years (cooler in August than usual in 2009 but sweltering in 2010), so who knows.

We love the MNSSHP too and were supposed to hit for the 3rd time this past year and had to cancel about a month ahead of time. Had tentative plans for this year but think we're gonna wait and go in January because of how the school schedule is going to work out for 2011/2012.

I have pulled my daughter twice before and my son once before and I don't mind doing it again, I just haven't pulled my daughter out since she has been in middle school.

mama jessie i great time to go is the week after 4th of july because alot of people are leaving and another great tip is stay in parks when its raining because most people will leave and the lines will be shorter

I see that you are in Conn so you may have the same system we do here on L.I. with the Jewish holidays. A few times I pulled my daughter out the week she had those days off anyway so she didn't miss as much. Looks like you could go from 9/24-10/2 and she would only miss 3 days. MNSSHP would def be going on then, too. Good luck with your planning!
