Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

I'm really nervous about the new promo. :scared1: I've got my fingers crossed that it'll be OK and not much will change. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.:confused3

This was posted on the Expo TV forums:

Quality Reviews Earn Quality Cash - New Reward Progam Update

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Videopinions Rewards Program - Launches April 1
We will be raising our per video compensation to $10, but only for videos that meet our new higher quality standards. These standards require more personal product experience, and better product demonstration.

Plus, if your video doesn't qualify for payment initially, you now have one more chance to revise your review to meet our standards for upfront payment based on personalized feedback from the ExpoTV staff. Videos that do not qualify will still be published, but only receive Pay Per Play compensation.

New Features at ExpoTV.com:

How-To Section - created by fellow community members to help ensure everyone knows how to make quality videos

Become A Guru - new program designed to elevate and compensate members with passion and knowledge in specific product categories
Bloopers/Testimonials - share your joy and mishaps with others by creating testimonial videos and blooper reels
Recent Top Producers - just another way to celebrate great reviewers within the site (top right hand module). Want to be featured? Step up your video quality!
A Few Other Details to Note:

You can earn payment for up to 20 videos each month
Payment will be calculated after the end of each month, so you will no longer see a running tally of potential earnings. For example, earnings for April videos that qualify for payment will be available on your earnings page mid May.
This is a big step forward for the ExpoTV community and it will not only improve video quality, encourage creativity, but will also celebrate and acknowledge product enthusiasts.

Please feel free to ask questions about any of this here!

Thanks,
Jess

I'm confused. Will they tell us if the video is approved righ away, or will we have to wait until the following month?

I have a question. . .I still have four videos in pending that I uploaded three days ago. Yet I just uploaded a new video today and it was approved immediately. Do I need to email Expo to ensure my four pending videos will be included in the March tally?

Nope sometimes it takes days into the following month to get them approved, because of so many reviews being uploaded at the end of the month. They will get to them eventually.

I also don't completely understand the new promo. How will we know if we've reached the 20 videos that we can get paid for? Can we upload more than that in case some of them don't go through? I hope they explain some of this better because I'm really confused. Plus, how can you meet some of their standards with things like a DVD? Will we still be able to do in theatre movie reviews? I think they've really left a lot of things up in the air.

Seems like your not the only one confused on the forums...alot of questions and alot of stuff needs to be made clear.

So basically we get 20 videos. If rejected you get one chance to correct it. If not it goes to pay per play. Now if you make a good video which meets their "quality standards" (and I hate that word), you get the $10. This leaves a ton of leeway and I don't like the direction this is going. I guess I will try a couple videos and see what happens. But Expotv is probably killing itself off.

I dont have $5000 worth of video equipment to make top tier videos. I thought Expotv was based on reviews from the people? Now that they got what they needed, I think we are left out in la la land.

So, if I do really animated videos, even if it's for Kraft macaroni & cheese, I get $10? I lOVE that. There are so many products that I feel passionate about that I kept wishing were worth more than $2.00.

My dh can get a name & submit videos too, right? So potentially, we could make $400 a month reviewing Cheezits & Coke? Do you know how awesome that is if it's true? Right now I'm thinking of all the WW Smart One meals I both love & hate. I can think of some truly horrible ones I would love to review and save people from wasting their money.

I'll be interested to see how it goes. It will be frustrating if we don't see if they are approved or not until mid May! Hopefully they'll tell us it's approved, just not keep a running tally of how much we're making. That would be fine with me.

I've had some rejected for this or that and it has really helped me learn what they'll take or not take.

Well some of this is ok and some of it isn't. They can basically reject it for anything now, which stinks. If they don't want to pay you, you won't get paid. As far as your WW, they probably will only accept one type and then the others will be stated same brand. That will weed people out from doing 20 reviews of Coke if there were 20 flavors. I think it is very vague. And I think alot of people are going to be dissapointed, because they could be giving out alot of cash, if they paid everyone $10 for 20 videos. Like you said, between my wife and I that is like $400.

I don't really like the idea that even if your video isn't "approved" because it doesn't meet their "quality standards", they are still going to post it for ppp. I have delayed posting videos because they were only worth $2, but now I could potentially be making free videos?:confused3

Going to upload only a couple videos to start and see how long it takes to get approved or rejected. Alot of people are asking alot of questions, and its just strange that they would move to this new format.

Just when I was getting in the groove of making videos each month, they change it. I work in the TV industry and I still bet my videos won't meet the "quailty standard" they will expect. Bummer.

I uploaded a video this AM. I wonder how long they will sit there now before they get rejcted or accepted. I bet a lot longer. Has anyone had one accepted yet? I would love to know when someone does.

What they are looking for isn't necessarily all the techy, flashy stuff, though those do come out nice. They just want good lighting, good demonstrations and interesting videos. They don't want people just reading off the back of a box or DVD case. They want them to be more personal. I think if you go into it with those thoughts you'll do fine.

I was asked to be a "Know It All" in Kitchen and Housewares. If you have seen any of my videos I don't do any editing, green screen, flashy animations, anything like that. They are done in one take. I do try and tell a story each time though, make it personal as to why I like/dislike it, how I used it, etc and give a good demo. I think those are some of the things they are looking for. They do want to keep it a site of real people giving real opinions.

Hope that helps!

Allyson :)

When someone gets one approved or rejected please let us know, I'm curious as well. My wife uploaded one today and its still pending. Im about to do one and upload it and see what happens.

I am a bit frustrated with them. I have had a video pending for days and of course today they reject it because the product is not available. Well it is I have a website I can get it at but they didn't give me time to retry last month. they waited until the 1st to say no. GRRRRRRRRRR.

Resubmit it now and it should be worth $10 according to the new plan!
