Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

Did anyone ever get an answer about the chain restaraunts whether or not you have to physically be there or could you do the review from home?
I thought I read somewhere in the new terms for this month, you need to be in the actual restuarant you are reviewing. Maybe not though, but then again we are talking about expo and that sounds right along their lines of approval.

I just submitted my first four $5 ones today... APEX 5" Portable DVD Player, Donnie Darko DVD, Donnie Darko DVD (Directors Cut), and Office Space DVD. That will rock if they get approved and placed into the right category.

As an example, here is the review I just uploaded for Office Space... I will post whether or not it "fits" in their guidelines... Honestly though, I think it does a great job and abides by all of their rules

I made my first 5 videos, mostly kitchen appliances to start. the database is pretty limited, I see what everyone means! I added a website address that showed right where I bought it with the price and picture and everything to that little box you're supposed to write in when you upload. Hope that works because only one appliance came up on their thing. Wish me luck!

Youre video was good brivers222. I like the clips. Gotta figure out if I can do that! Thanks for the example, I'm watching videos over at Expo to try and tell what would be good.

I am still waiting to find out too!

Well I just went onto the screen where you view videos and if you click on food and grocery then under that chain restaraunts you can watch how some others did their reviews...some of them are idiotic. Im not going to go there just to do the review, although I do have 2 olive garden gift certificates.....hmmmm...maybe i can talk dh into a trip this weekend.....:rolleyes1

Anyway, 1 guy is just like holding up the take out menu from ruby tuesdays...so couldnt you just go and get take out menus and do reviews from that? Of course I didnt watch that whole review.

Has anyone heard from DIS regarding our unwanted PMs? I would think something like that would be addressed rather quickly. :confused3

I'm trying to keep a low profile on expo, so far, no rejections. the way tehy classify things makes me  and :headache: 2 identical ink cartridges, one is computers and the other is office supplies. Off skintastic, one for kids labeled as home and garden the other for families is labeled sports and outdoors. It's the same thing.......... I think listing Wii products as clothing takes the cake though. :lmao: Of course we're going to re-catagorize things if they don't belong where their database puts them. It's nota bout a higher payout (well it is, sort of) it's about putting things where they logically belong and where most people would look for them. I wouldn't look for a Wii in Victoria's Secret and I know Best Buy doesn't sell bras.

I am not a WM, and haven't been contacted regarding this, but I can tell you that the policy is that generally the DIS does not get involved in anything that is done on PMs. It is usually suggested that you put the unwanted person on your ignore list.

Also, there is no way to make a thread "private." Perhaps the best suggestion for followers of this thread is to open a forum of your own devoted to this topic.

Good Luck!

For the DVD ones or ones that need "clips" I basically film it in three different segments and then put them together via movie maker.

For the office space one, I basicall found a clip that I wanted (actually in this case it was two) filmed them first and then decided where I wanted to introduce them into my spiel. Once decided I then made sure I stoped the video tape in a place where I wanted to show the clips and then started it back up and continued on with the ending of my review. So the beginning and end was filmed one right after each other and the clips were filmed actually first :)

How long will it take to know if you did a review right or not? I don't want to do any more until I find out if the 5 I uploaded are okay.

So, just to be sure I didn't miss anything, what ARE the guidelines for reviewing DVD's, do you have to show clips from it?

My gosh, I was looking at expo's forum and they showed an example of what they want for video game reviews. The guy had stuck himself on the screen with the game playing in the background and a picture of the game box hovering in midair. I have no clue how he even did that, do we have to do them that way??? I have a ton of my fiance's games I could review but not like that!

Could you post a link to it, I can not find it on the forum at all.

Yeah that seems like he does video editing for a living. Pretty impossible for the common everyday reviewer. If that is the "low" end of what they are expecting then there will be NO game reviews coming from me.

You can all see my reply in that thread, but here it is again:

How does one go about getting a to appear like that?

Any hints on the software that may have been used to create such a professional looking video?

Do you need to know a weatherman to use a green screen? I mean what can the common everyday reviewer do to review and still get approved.

I mean this is amazing but not really feisable to most common everyday people reviewing the games.

The poster below you, Brivers222, mentioned Adobe After Effects so I went and looked it up. You can purchase it for 999.00!!!!!:scared1: I would be doing ExpoTv reviews for the rest of my life to make that pay for itself!!!!!

LoL yeah... sorry I DO NOT think i want to invest $1000 into Expotv when they can't even get the most simplest database enteries correct.

I find it amazing that when I ask for "COMMON DAY" reviewers people come back with software that is $1000.00 as if it is even an option for a common day reviewer.

Honestly, sometimes when I see reviews that look so Produced I tend to shy away from them because they seem to me to be paid off by the companies. I know that is not true, but I have a hard time trusting reviews that seem produced. Personally I would like to see the average joe or jane stumple through words in a review. At least that way it seems to be more "real".

That review is Awesome but to me it seems like it belongs on the TV channel G4 or like it came from there.

Sorry, I should have added a link. That adobe software is pro type stuff, best I could do would be to stand next to screen and hold the box. This is tougher than I'd hoped.

This is what I am planning to do for the DVDs and the games.

I am going to start the video off with me holding the box and stating what it is and the current rating and market price. Than I am going to turn the camera on the computer screen where I will already have the item playing or loaded to give a few quick screen shots or clips. Fill in with some more info and turn the camera back on me and end the video. This is how I did my Notre Dame Football Stadium one for travel Dest. and it turned out nice it is live if you would like to look. expo name is mydisneydollars Doing it this way you do not have any editing to do. I hope this helps at least someone.

I totally agree with you. I have watched several "average joe" reviews and have gotten more out them than a video like the one posted. I couldn't watch it all the way through. And I thought I had read an advertisement somewhere for ExpoTV stating that it had reviews from everyday people-that doesn't look like an everyday review!

Nice review on Notre Dame Stadium... I think I am going to review my 2nd home... The Joe Louis Arena home of the 10 time champs Detroit Red Wings :thumbsup2

We were season ticket holders up until this year, but we will still be going to a few games... I will get some great shots.

Its hit or miss, I did the same thing you did last month. The first 3 I sent in immediately. it took almost 20 days for them to be approved and published. Then I added 10 more because I finally got 2 of those first 3 approved (1 was an expected rejection because the color was too dark). Those 10 were approved and placed live on expo the VERY NEXT DAY!

Then I did 32 more at the end of the month and they are still pending.

I did 4 more to fit in to the Sept promotion (3 DVDs and 1 portable DVD player) so hopefully those will be approved in the new restrictions.
