Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

What kind of microphone are you using to do your voice overs/narration on the still shots?

Hi, I am using a headphone set with a microphone that flips down in the front. I am not sure what brand it is, but I don't think it was very expensive. I like it because I can hear myself talking while I narrate, but it doesn't echo like if you have the sound going through the speakers while you talk, kwim?

Here is a link to one very similar to the one I use...

Hope this helps!

I guess its just the internal mic that I'm using. I just turn on the "narrate timeline" and it shows me a bar that responds when I talk before I start recording to let me know if it is receiving my voice. I haven't had feedback from my speakers so far but all components are different on all our computers so you may want to try first with just your computer's mic and if that doesn't work then you could try the headset like FirstTimertoDiz.

YAY for me!!

My first video was just approved and is ready to view! I didn't want to do any others for fear of me doing something wrong.

I wish I could help others on the technical end. I have an iMac and I just use the camera on it and format it for the web. It made it the right size for me so that this dork of a non-techie is able to make some extra cash for our WDW trip next month.

I am Ursula at expotv, please take a look and see how silly I look!

I was able to upload 3 videos! I am working on #4, but it seems that expotv is having issues.

I tried to find an answer on their website, but all it says is that your video will be available for you to view sometimes within hours. I did my first two yesterday and they are still not available to view. How long does it take? I don't really want to do anymore until I know it worked right. It seems many people are having issues with the sound and such. TIA!

mine have become available to preview within a few days, some as soon as 24 hours...now to get them approved...much longer it would appear. :sad2:

Our first video was denied  ; stated poor audio quality. I replayed it from the computer and it sounds just fine to me :confused3 . I tried to play it on expotv and I'm still getting that stupid white screen that says error, even though earlier I could see it. I'm about to pull my hair out. We've got 35 more pending (mostly toys and crafts!) and I would really like to do more. Why can't they approve just one so I know I'm doing it right?

Hi, rant warning!

Just back from WDW to find 24 of our reviews rejected due to sound and video out of sync. We have about 80 approved, so why all of the sudden are these other 24 reviews made at different times/dates out of sync? This is discouraging and disheartening. These videos are PERFECT on our computer. We use Kodak Easy Share, then upload to expo.

24 x $5 is $120 we lost, not to mention the time. Plus, the remaining dozen videos we have pending will also be rejected because, surprise surprise, they are out of sync as well on the expo site, while perfect on our computer. And I know this is happening to many others.

I dunno. I would really like to think expo is on the up and up but it just seemed like when they panicked and pulled the plug on all those $10 categories for Aug, suddenly many many users found themselves with many rejected videos. Lots of time wasted. Lots of money saved for expo. I really wish I didn't think this way, but something sure smells for raw fish.

Although I would like to continue doing this, we are not sure it is worth it for $2 a crack. It would be worth it if you could upload your reviews without the miriad of tech problems on the expo site, but they sure do make things difficult and very time consuming.

Also, I feel they are vague on their category description on purpose. This way, they can take what you thought was a $10 video and only pay you $2 because they put it in a $2 category. They save $8 each time they do this.

I was so gung ho about this, but now I am not so sure. It seems expo is making promises it can't keep. Sorry to sound so down on expo, but it stinks to get all those rejections.

Thanks for listening.

woohoo:woohoo: , I have videos accepted! My user name (actually it's my husband's) is jdkmudphud. Check them out!

I feel the same way and will probably take a break for the month of September unless they go back to $5 per video. I had half of my July videos rejected for the audio/video synch thing and the even more mysterious "poor video quality" whatever that means. I'm with you in thinking that they just pulled the plug to save some money.

::yes:: I totally agree! When I think of all the time put into uploading them to expotv it really makes me sick!! I also use Kodak Easy Share and at first I had some accepted and then they started rejecting most of them stating that audio & video aren't in sync. Well I didn't do anything differently and they are fine on my computer so obviously it is a problem on their end. So far I've had 57 rejected for for July & Aug. for that reason. Do you know how much time I have invested in those??? Only 24 approved for July and 4 for Aug. so far. Still have several pending. . . Hopefully they will approve them but I doubt it.
I just uploaded 10 travel destinations yesterday. 6 were from our May Disney trip, I just told about them and showed pictures. Not sure if they will accept that or not. :confused3 The other 4 had on location footage from our trip last week to Hershey PA. The better accept those!

Does anyone know if you can submit more than 100 because of rejections??? Example: If I submitted 100 for Aug. and 50 were rejected, can I submit 50 more? I wasn't sure if it was 100 submissions or 100 approvals per month. . .

I asked the same question on the ExpoTV forum and the response I got was that only approved videos count toward the cap. So, I don't know for sure, I'm just stating what I was told.

Can someone please help me with Windows Movie Maker? Everytime I try to move a video to the story board, the program closes out. I can move pictures to the story board just fine. What could I be doing wrong?:confused3 The videos are MPEG files.
TIA

Heh- okay, so I have about $150 in my account and I've seriously spent WAAAAYYY too much time shooting and uploading these things- but you know what? I hate to say it- but I'm kinda enjoying this.

Now, if they went to $2 per vid for EVERYTHING- I wouldn't be too pleased. I would be okay, though, with a $4 per vid. Heck, honestly, even if it WAS $2 for everything- I'd probably do 50 quickie vids and make $100 easily for the month.

Mind you- I walk back and forth in a petstore for 4 hours, three days a week, for a measly $44 a day! So taking 30 minutes to upload five or six videos- well, I'm making more sitting on my **** during the day!

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but I went on to view videos and for whatever reason, I just get a blank box where the video should be?? Do I have to be a member to see the vids?

Be careful about what you are reviewing. According to the terms and conditions, you can't work for a company that sells a product you are reviewing. From their website:

Submitters cannot be affiliated with a company that sells, distributes or is otherwise affiliated with the product or service featured and/or reviewed in a video.

It would suck to have your earnings or membership revoked because you didn't play by their rules.

I'm only affiliated with ONE thing and it's a certain pet food company- no worries there- I haven't reviewed our food :)

I don't work for the petstore or anything like that- although I do shop there a lot!

(PS- I read the rules when I signed up. I AM playing by the rules- as long as I don't review anything made by OUR company!)

same exact thing with mine. im so frustrated right now i just want to punch my computer. ive been having a horrible 2 weeks, and i come to find this out. i am so beyond frustrated i just want to cry.

I feel everyone's pain :sad1:

All of my first ones were rejected, and I'm just waiting for the rest to be rejected for "poor sound quality." For some reason, NONE of them have sound. What am I doing wrong????? I've got 35 up and they're all worthless.

Anyone have any advice? I even spent 4 hours the night they got rid of the $10 categories trying to get them in before the deadline, and now I know they are all going to be rejected. Ugh.

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:
