Another wall paper border question

I posted this question on another thread but thought it may merit
its own thread since it is a dumb question. Either way, I need an answer since I am planning on putting up a border in our bedroom.


Ok, solve a dispute in our family.

I put up border by using 1 long piece to cover each wall and end it in the corner. I then match the next piece to the corner and start another long piece to cover the that wall. NO SEAMS along wall.

But

DH puts the whole roll on the walls around corners and then the roll will stop mid wall. (Have I confused anyone) He then starts (seam) the next roll of border and keeps on going.

The dispute is:

My way takes up a lot of rolls and DH's way minimizes cost. Which way do most of you border?

I say that having a seam in the middle of the wall may not always look good. (Although the room he did while I was out of town looks fine, but I can't tell him that)

So how do you all do it?

I do it the way your dh did, except it looks better if you cut the corners.

Dh and I put up a pre-pasted border without consulting my mother, the Wallpapering Queen. We did it your way and it curled down in all the corners within 3 days. It was a disaster. The next time I bordered (dh refuses to do any more) I had my Mom help. She goes around the corners and then to disguise the seam you overlap the next piece and match up the pattern and then cut thru BOTH layers with a straight edge. Then you lift up the top one, peel off the excess from the one below, replace the top one and smooth it together. Can't see the seam at all.
I have seen wallpapering done on home improvement shows and they do it this way too.

I do it the way your DH does it. If you match the seams neatly, you can't even notice.

bananiem~ You're right, that's the correct way of doing it.

Our only attempt at wallpaper border was done your DH's way. It worked pretty well and you can't really even notice the seams.

I've only done it your way, but with the room that we did, it took the same number of rolls anyway. The walls were almost the exact same length as the rolls.

As long as there isn't a problem with noticable seems in noticable parts of the room, it should be fine.
