Another virgin upgrade ?

We booked a Virgin flight through Expedia for a very good price for this August.

I e-mailed Expedia to ask how much it would cost to upgrade & got an e-mail saying they'd get back to me, well they haven't. I'm lothe to phone them as it's 10 or 20p a minute.

Can I upgrade via Virgin? or do I have to go through Expedia?

I dont think Virgin will deal with you direct and I have a feeling that Expedia dont always have the facility to upgrade as they tend to get good prices on the economy and then you cant get upgrades - but I might be wrong.

dont know about Expedia but if you deal with Virgin and want to upgrade you have to pay the prive between your ticket and the FULL advertised price of the cabin you want to upgrade to - so if you got your ticket cheap you'd end up spending the regular amount anyway to buy the upgrade ticket - therefore wasting the time buying the expedia rate.

whether or not Expedia do upgrades and discounted higher cabin classes I dont know - generally its only economy they do the deals on as they "pre buy" so many from the airlines.

What do your terms and conditions say for your Expedia flights? Most cheap economy flights are non-changeable/non-upgradeable...

If your tickets are upgradeable/changeable, then it will be for a fee (in addition to the cost of upgrade) and it has to be done through Expedia (who are your ticket agent).

If all else fails, you can always ask if you can buy an upgrade at the airport... ask if they have availability and, if so, how much it will cost at check-in.
