Another Vicks remedy.

Hi,
I've had a cold....and a cough....
3 people in the last week have told me the same "crazy" remedy...for the cough.

Rub Vicks vapor rub on your FEET before bed...and wear cotton socks
to bed
They swear by it...
Anyone else hear of this?

I never heard of it. Seems to me like the only benefit to that would be minty-fresh feet.

thats just what I thought....If it dosen't work...at least my feet will smell better

It also will kill toe fungus!!!

I've tried it with my DD. Of course, I put vicks on her chest too, so I really can't say if it worked or not.

OMG....how did I forget that....
while we were talking about it in the gym today....one lady said
in 1 night....the whitish color on her toenails went away.

thats some powerful stuff.

Does it just work for coughs? Or will it help colds in general? DD has a rotten cold right now and the oral stuff doesn't seem to do much.

I tried it on DS6 a few weeks ago, DH thought I was crazy, but I thought what the heck...nothing else is working. It did help calm his cough, but didn't eliminate it (as "testimonials" stated in the e-mail I received about it) I would do it again, but I had to reapply it during the night.

I use the baby scent Vicks for about every ailment I have!!

My Mom introduced it to me by rubbing it on my chest for a cold when I was 5yo.

Hey, for $4 a jar, you have nothing to lose, why not give it a shot?!?!

Growing up anytime I was sick my mom lathered me in Vicks, I did the same to my kids. I also put vicks in my vaporizer when I'm sick, yes the house has that lovely smell to it, but at least I can breathe. Never heard of the vicks on the feet though, may have to try that next time.

Growing up my Mom used to use something called "Save the Baby" on us. Can't find it anymore so now I use Vicks, and have tried the foot thing. It worked for me.

This was my Choici's (great aunt) remedy for everything! She said she always did it and it worked. I have never tried it myself.

The thought of wearing socks to bed is freaking me out. Spontaneous human combustion! It's bad enough when DW puts flannel sheets on the bed.

"Save the Baby" is now marketed as "VetRx". It's sold by veterinary supply stores. Same stuff! We use it all the time around here. It works much better in the humidifier and you can even drop a few drops in the bottom of your shower while taking your shower and it will clear you right up!

Thank you! I looked it up on-line. We'll give it a shot. I can't tell you how many times my Mom has said to my sisters (8 children between them) "if we had some Save-the-Baby they'd be able to sleep."
