HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Just wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day. This year is kind of a bittersweet one for me. My mother passed away on May 10, 2005. So this is the first year that date has fallen on Mother's Day. The ache in my heart isn't there as often, but it never really gets better. When I think about her, I still miss her just as much as I did the day she passed away. She wouldn't want me to sit around on Mother's Day crying over her, so today I will keep busy.

I need to start thinning some of my radish & turnip seedlings in the garden and also to plant my green beans. Might even go get a couple of cherry tomatoes and some cucumbers to plant this week.:thumbsup2

Today I want to share what my DD wrote in my card...I know I'm not always the funnest person to be around and I just want to thank you for always being tolerant with me. I just want you to be happy with yourself and all of us. You deserve more than a card but i never know what to get you. I know you'll always be there for me & you don't know how much I rely on that. Hopefully one day I'll make everything up to you. Have a happy Mother's Day Mom, and thank you for supporting me in everything I do. I love you always.

So how sweet was that?! Being the mother of a teenage daughter isn't always easy and there are lots of times we butt heads. I read that and thought "OH MY!! My baby's growing up".:lovestruc It's the first time I've gotten a very heartfelt message in my card.

Alex made me the coolest gift! Its this paper that says... If I had a million dollars, I would buy my mommy lots of books, because she like to read. With a little play check on the bottom for a million dollars.. :lovestruc:love::love: Seriously!! OMG. My 7yo knows me really well, and it is surprising. I love that kid! I got breakfast in bed.. at 6:30 this morning. :scared1::lmao: He tried.

Survived the busy Saturday :goodvibes

Early morning, picked up DN and the rental .. ran back to get my boys and we went out for breakfast at Perkin's.
DN happily telling us some of the crazy things he and his buddies did on deployment. He said there were many nights of just being bored standing on guard duty. They would get silly and make up trivia games.. using their radios talking to each other at various posts... until they got yelled at over the radio by a senior officer (not part of their group). :lmao:

Picked up my oldest DN and made the 3 hour drive up to Duluth. Comparing music tastes with each others Mp3 players over the stereo. It was a hoot to find that we like the same types and introduce them to songs they hadn't heard of before.

Stopped at a car rental place to meet up with my brother.. only to find that no where in the city will they rent to under 21 yr olds (military is allowed to rent starting at age 18 in most locations near his base) :headache:

Instead he got a ride with his GF, we took off to my parent's house on strict orders to say NOTHING.

Got to my parent's and had to make up a lie.. uhhhh our car is in the shop. :rolleyes1

Few hours later as we were finishing up with lunch, he strolled into the house -- like it was an ordinary family visit.

My dad was a bit stunned, he was abit puzzled at first. My mom made a rush at DN with much laughs, exclamations of "oh wow!" and fierce hugging. My sis looked at me, scowled, shook her finger at me scolding us for pulling this trick .. :lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Later "the boys" .. for all we have among us are boys... played badmitton in the backyard. My dad kept asking why dont they put up a net? And we repiled.. nah... it's not really about playing the game anyway.:cutie: No competition, just batting the birdie around and without a net it was easier for the younger ones to play too.

Later on DN disappeared to my parent's bedroom. Taking hours to dress for his GF's prom, we had to tease him about taking as long as his GF to get ready. :lmao:

I managed to grab a pic in uniform before we left, sniffle sniffle.. the cute reddish blonde haired boy with the adorable dimple has become a handsome young Marine.

He went back to his base today, will be on leave in a few weeks. Then he has training for his next year's deployment...Afghanistan. :worried:

My boys didn't remember it was Mother's Day. :snooty:

Eloy scolded them , then went off to fetch me breakfast and coffee. :lovestruc

Lazy day lounging at home, watching a sci fi marathon of Eureka, nibbling on a doughnut and using the computer. No plans, no worries.

:cloud9:

oh yeah, E's brother never bothered to call or email if he was coming or not.

E called his mom today and heard that yes he did get the intro letter that we revised for him and sent it in.. (good, but why didn't he send a thank you?? or some kind of email saying he got it, like I asked when I sent the revision to him??? )

Couldn't talk to him because he was asleep, it was 1 pm :sad2:

Hello,

I hope you all had a great Mother's Day:) My bf and I went to DTD. We watched Star Trek at AMC. Let me just say that I'm not a Star Trek ("trekkie") fan but this movie was really good! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 You guys should watch it.

Also, I did not care much for Chris Pine when he was in the 2nd Princess Diaries movie, but let me just say that he makes one HOT Captain Kirk!

He can beam me up any day!! :teeth: :rotfl:

We were starving after the movie (we hadn't eaten a thing all day) so we decided to check out the buffet Storyteller's. Luckily their buffet started at 5pm and it was after 6pm. The buffet was good. They had sliced lamb (which I thought was prime rib because of the look and taste of it). There was a sign that said "New York Sirloin" and I thought that's what it was. It turns out, I wasn't the only one confused by this sign. The CM carving the meat said that the one on his board was the NY Sirloin and that the one next to it that was pre-sliced was lamb.

I went to World of Disney and found some cute merchandise. Here are some pics:

I got these 2 bags that I found in the middle of the store. They were way at the bottom and not easy to spot. I thought they were really cute. I knew if I didn't jump on it they would "disappear," which is what always happends if I wait for items I see at DL.

This Tink shirt is adorable but it does not come in large sizes. They look really really small. :confused3:confused: I wish I was thin enough to wear it. :guilty:

The shorts are really cute but I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them since they are really short.

:rotfl: Pix you are too funny! I'm glad to hear you liked the movie because I am not at ALL a star trek fan but dh and my sis are making me go see the movie tonight, so maybe I'll like it. Especially if there is eye candy.

Okay.. I have been doing lots of looking around, and talking to my hubby.. and those sorts of things.. I know what I want to do when I grow up. :lmao: Our local CC has a criminal justice program, and I can get my BA in it here. So after tossing around a bunch of different things, that looks like where I should start. :thumbsup2 Its what I wanted to study when I was in HS.

Alison! We got the clothes, thank you so much! They are so cute!:lovestruc

I was shocked that Simon Peg was in this movie. He's funny and I like some of his movies (Run Fat Boy Run, Hot Fuzz). Some parts were funny so you might like it. :)

Yay Staley!! :woohoo::dance3::yay:

Good Morning,

I got this wrap-around bracelet from the DL hotel gift shop last week. It's hard to wrap around my wrist....didn't know it recquired assistance! I'll take a pic and post it. They had different ones that have different quotes printed on it. It's a bit gloomy outside but it's supposed to be 79 degrees. I HATE HATE HATE the hot weather. :headache: I wish it was nice and cool all year round. :cutie:

Hi Ladies. Hope everybody had a great Mother's Day! DH rode his Harley to the coast and visited with his mother. The kids and I just spent kind of a lazy day at home. I worked in the garden in the afternoon. Everything is growing great.:thumbsup2

I now have radishes, onions, cabbage, lettuce, carrots, potatoes, cilantro, tomatoes, pumpkins, green beans, and turnips. My cucumbers didn't make it, so I will be replanting in a week or so, along with a couple of cherry tomatoes and a few bell pepper plants. Then I think I will be finished for my summer crops.:thumbsup2

hey all! hope everyone had a good day? and hey got a question I am planning on going to the DL trick and treat party with all adults and was wondering has anyone gone without kids and trick or treat or even can we? and also dressed up as well?

Good Morning! I hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Stitch - I have never been but I think adults dress up too and I think it's fine if you go with out kids. Last Halloween DBF and I were at Sea World on Halloween and they gave us a bag to go Trick or Treating. It was kinda fun, I hadn't Trick or Treaded in like 15 years. :rotfl:

Good Morning all!

We are all sick here with a nasty cough. I just wish this last week of school were out so I didnt have to worry about that.

How was everyone's mothers day? Mine was spent in PJ's doing nothing. Oh, we played pixar monopoly. That was fun and then I wanted to play the magic kingdom game but everyone was gamed out. Monopoly lasts forever. In fact my husband bankrupted himself just to get out of the game. He could have played longer but he wanted to end his misery. After that it unraveled quickly.

I think if Jeff doesn't have a job soon we are going to head up to dizzy's place so we dont have to pay our electric bill. :lmao:We'll just pitch a tent outside her house! :rotfl2:That would be funny!

Actually I am welcoming the heat right now because I think much of our illness stems from allergies so if we can burn some of this pollen off then we will be good to go.

Pix, those tote bags are so cute. I'm thinking they would not be hard to make either if one (one being me) wanted to copy it and make it. Shhhh. I remember all of the raw edged tote bags with the mickey heads on them and thought that would be the easiest thing to make. Cute stuff though! Makes me want to shop at World of Disney right now! With what money I dont know but it doesnt matter! :rotfl:

Oh, stitch, at least in WDW we saw tons of adults without kids dressed up trick or treating. In fact there it looked strange if you didn't have a costume on or at least a halloween t-shirt.

Geez guys and here I was expecting all this support for my anti-piercing and tattooing stance.:rotfl2:

So what's the deal, no Friday nite partay?

I will definitely support you - not a big fan of either. Neither Dh or I have a single piercing or tattoo. I am not against those that have them, but they are not for me :thumbsup2

I knew you had to have seen it, because when I changed pages all the Star Trek smart advertising popped up. I must say that I grew up a Trekkie (my dad was a major trekkie). Never got into anything past the original series though. Saw the movie on Friday with DH and loved it!!! Saw it on Sunday with the kids :rolleyes1 and loved it (DD was not such a fan ). I am actually driving to the valley on Sunday to see it with my mom (kind of a long story, but it needs to be done)
