Day 3 -
I was up at 6:30 for a walk around the CSR lake. It was clear and cool. As I made the turn around the far side of the lake I looked up behind the Casitas buildings and there were a half dozen hot air balloons floating off in the distance. It was a wonderful sight.
I am so impressed with the beauty of CSR. I just love it and would definitely return again.
We had breakfast out of our cooler and took the bus to MK, arriving at 9:00 am. Since Spectro and Fantasy in the Sky were scheduled, we planned to stay ALL DAY, so we rented a locker for extra socks, etc.
We encountered no lines at POC, Thunder Mountain, Winnie the Pooh, TTA, Buzz, Hall of Presidents, Tiki Birds - but used fast pass for the Jungle Cruise around noon time. HM was closed on this day, but the CM said it would be opening back up tomorrow.
By this time my feet were killing me and blisters were developing, even though I had powdered, deoderized, and mole skinned...all tips gleaned from these boards. I had extra socks, but at the last minute I had thrown my $5.00 Gap flipflops into my bag which was in the locker. I ripped my Nikes off and slipped the flipflops on and was in toe heaven. I ended up wearing the flipflops every day, the entire trip, with no problems. In fact, I had 2 pairs, one brown and one black!
After changing shoes we took the boat over to Trail's End Buffet for lunch about 2:00 pm. This was a nice, relaxing, budget lunch - $8.95 per person. Nothing fantastic, but a nice break from the park.
We decided to tour the MK resorts...WL, Poly, CR, GF. We took lots of pictures and were really impressed with WL and GF. The CR and Poly felt a little tired and dated.
After our relaxing afternoon, we headed back to MK to stake out a spot for Spectro. We had never seen this parade before and were very excited. We ended up sitting next to a very nice young Illinois couple and we chatted for 2 hours! During our wait DH fetched me a Dole Whip - YUMMY - and he munched popcorn and a Rice Krispy Mickey.
Finally Spectro started. What a mob scene. People were practically hanging off the lamp posts. The parade was gorgeous, but I really didn't think it was worth the long wait and the fighting for position. We actually witnessed two men getting into a shoving/shouting match nearby. Some other guy got mad because he was asked to leave the wheelchair viewing area. People can be real jerks.
The fireworks were a little underwhelming too. I seemed to remember them being much more spectacular in years past....but they are still good.
I loved seeing Tinkerbell's flight. I had never been close enough to see it before. THAT was worth the wait.
Hoping to bypass the mad dash to the bus stops, we stayed around for an hour watching the Kiss Goodnight and letting the crowds thin out. We finally headed down to the bus stop and were greeted to another mob scene. I was ready to return to the park, but DH dragged me through the crowd. Well, the mob scene was the AS resorts' stop. The CSR bus stop was empty. We immediately boarded a bus and pitied all the poor souls trying to get back to AS. DH thinks that in itself was worth the extra $ for a moderate!
After returning to CSR we soaked in the spa then headed to bed.
