We have 3 different dilemmas that I have never had to deal with and am hoping the "experts" can help me out.

This will be our 4th trip to the world but on our first trip we never ventured to any other resorts other than those on the monorail (we stayed at contemporary) and the one time we tried to go straight from our hotel to DTD it was a nightmare. We had to go to TTC get on a bus to MGM and THEN get on a bus to DTD. It took FOREVER!!!

Our FIRST dilemma is we arrive about 5 o'clock on our first day and while we don't want to go to any parks were thinking about going to DTD to eat and shop. We are staying at Coronado and have NO transportation other than the buses to rely on. How do you suggest getting to DTD without it taking an hour and 100 transfers or is there no other way.

TWO we want to eat at Citricos after MK one night. Getting THERE I don't think will be a problem. Just hop on monorail to GF. BUT after THAT it will prob be 9ish and not sure how to get back to Coronado. I know there is no direct resort to resort transport. Advice????

And lastly we are going to AKL and want to eat at Boma. I am assuming we can just get on an AKL bus at the end of the day but again how do we get from THERE to our resort when we are done?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

We have always had a rental car and I am thinking I am going to REALLY miss that convenience!

dunno how long ago this is or why, but it's nowhere near the case currently. resorts have direct to DTD buses (although they may share with other resorts, so CR will probably stop at Poly and GF first before hitting DTD, not sure how that sharing works specifically).

Can't do much for the time, you should allow up to 20 minutes for a bus to arrive, although from CSR to DTD should be no more than 10 minutes or so? Guessing. The up side is CSR doesn't share with other resorts, but it has multiple stops inside the resort.

buses (and even monorail to an extent - an hour maybe?) operate two hours after park close. so i'm guessing 9 pm isn't even something to worry about, just monorail to GF and walk to resort buses.

trickier depending on EMH and day of year because DAK tends to close much earlier. I have always taken a cab back to my home resort when eating at Boma. should be no more than $20 or so.

To make it simple for you:
Question one-Direct bus to DTD and back, there are no transfers.
Questions two and three-As you stated, there are no direct resort to resort buses. If a park is still open, take a bus there and then transfer to a bus to your hotel. If the parks are closed, you may resort bus to DTD and then transfer to a bus back to your hotel. There is no direct bus service from the parks to or from DTD to prevent folks parking there and not paying to park at the theme parks.
There are also cabs available at all hotels that are not too expensive that can take you back.

There is also a transportation forum you may try that is specifically setup to answer transportation questions.:thumbsup2

There is direct transportation from every resort to DTD. Coronado isn't the closest resort to DTD, but it should take 20 minutes or so to get there and there won't be any transfers.

Even if MK has closed, the Monorail and buses will run for several hours after park close. I would take the Monorail from GF to MK and then your resort bus.

And lastly we are going to AKL and want to eat at Boma. I am assuming we can just get on an AKL bus at the end of the day but again how do we get from THERE to our resort when we are done?
Again, depending on the time of day, you can get on AK bus from AKL and then to your resort. AKL and Coronado are both AK resorts and are relatively close. I think it may just take a little extra planning. Good Luck!!!

All of these problems are really easy to sort out.

1. Walk outside your hotel. Get on Downtown Disney bus.

2. Take the monorail or boat back to Magic Kingdom. Walk over to bus stop. Get on Coronado Springs bus.

3. Get on Downtown Disney, Magic Kingdom, Epcot or Disney Hollywood Studios bus. (Whichever comes first.) When you arrive at any one of these places, walk over to Coronado Springs bus.

THanks so much everyone. And fyi when we had that ordeal with the DTD bus it was 02 so that's telling! LOL. I am so glad to know that that is no longer the case!!

YAY and thanks for all your help!!!:)

Going to DTD from the resorts should be easy as there are direct buses to DTD. There are no longer any buses between DTD and the parks, so that has changed since your first trip.

You are correct that getting from the MK to GF is easy, but you should consider doing the boat instead of the monorail. The boat goes straight from the MK to the GF before heading to the Poly and back to the MK, whereas the GF is the LAST stop on the resort monorail going from the MK.

To get back to CSR after dinner is really easy of the MK is still open (even if just for EMH or for a party). In that case, just take the monorail one stop, walck to the bus depot and catch a CSR bus there. If the MK is closed, you'll need to get whatever park is open and switch there. There are buses from the GF to AK or DHS, or get to Epcot via monorail (go from the GF to the TTC and transfer there) and you would switch to a CSR bus at the parks. If there are no parks open, you'll need to take a bus to DTD and transfer to a CSR bus there. A cab will be quicker, but obviously will cost some money.

And to your last point, yes, you can take a bus from any park to AKL. After dinner you will need to get to a park or to DTD to transfer to a CSR bus as outlined above.

I just wanted to say that I can't see why Magic Kingdom would be closed by the time you finish dinner. Even if it was, the buses would still be running. So, take your time at dinner and don't worry about getting home.

Others have answered all your questions, but I will add that the quickest way from MK to GF will be by boat. The boat to GF goes straight there, while the monorail will go to CR, TTC, Poly and then GF. That can take a while if it's crowded.

Coming back to MK from GF: monorail. It's only one stop. Then just get on a CSR bus in front of MK. Buses should still be running, especially if MK is open till 8 PM or later.

Once again thank you all SO much. We were so spoiled with the car the last few times and we also stayed in a timeshare so also didn't really deal with being "on property". So although I feel fairly competent about MOST of the world that is the one thing I was uncertain of because we only used Disney transportation that one time back in 02 and as I have seen it has obviously changed since then.

You guys were VERY helpful just like I knew you would be. Thanks so much!! :)
