Another trade gone bad

Ok, from the beginning, I have told BlueSpaceboy not to go in other rooms unless I approve, not to talk to people unless I'm right there, and under no circumstances is he allowed to trade. So what do I hear from the computer this morning?

"He took my teleportation pin!"

BlueSpaceboy was trying to get a space suit for his teleporation. But the other playing just put up a bunch of junk teleporters. When I asked why he accepted, he said he thought the other guy was going to put the space suit in. My DS gets too excited and doesn't always read everything that is popping up. He ended up with 4 coffins, a tea cup and a jungle boat, all mismatches.

So after the lecture of not trading unless I'm there, I'm off to find the other person. Luckily he was on DS's friends list. When I confronted him, he said he thought they would work, and offered another set. He refused to give back the pin, but did finally give up a set of coffin teleporters that did work. So we gave back 2 coffins. He wanted us to give everything back but since he refused to give the pin back I refused to give anything more than 2 coffins back.

So hopefully DS will follow the rules next time, except that he is on restriction from VMK until the weekend. I'm sorry that he lost his pin, but hopefully this experience will make him realize that I have the rules in place for his protection, not just to be a mean mom.

He did ask if I was going to put his name on the Dis as another person who ended up with a bad trade. LOL. He knows I'm always 'talking' to you all. :earboy2:

Awww, I'm so sorry to hear about your DS's bad trade experience :guilty: You described, to a "t", what I'm afraid will happen to my DS sooner or later (he is also a "blue" - "bluerockstar" is his username). I encourage my DS to be careful trading, but he's so eager to get some of the rare pins/furnishings in the game, that I worry he will be preyed upon.

I wish I had a spacesuit to give your DS - I feel so badly for him. Shame on that player for cheating him

I had an almost bad trade. I am really careful. the boy asked me to trade. He put up a sorcers hat (which I really want) and he asked for me pins. I have a set of retro pins. I added them and then he clicked off the hat and then on and said "sorry" then took it off again.

He was counting on my clicking accept and then ok because I did not notice that he removed the hat.

He is TheDanMan watch out for him. I closed the trade box and then told everyone in the room what happened. I did not want him doing anything like that.

My DSD is home now and loved the game but I told her if she is going to trade and of the super cool things I either bought for her or gave to her she needs to talk to me first and I will try to arrange a Dis trade.

Why people have to act like that astounds me but I guess we need the bad to make the good look so much better and I have met many, many really awesome people.

I had one the other day that said he had inferno for trade. I don't have a lot to offer, but had some good trades that day, so I thought it was worth a shot.

He traded with others in the room. Finally got to me. I put up my first part of the offer and he said so far my offer was looking the best. I put the rest in. lots of magic, quest, and rare stuff. He said OK. I waited for him to put in inferno, then he says, accept, and I will give you inferno. At this point I knew it was a scam. I told him I wouldn't accept without him putting it in the box first. He said well then no trade then. I doubt he even had inferno. I announced to the others in the room "when trading never accept the trade until you see the item in the box you are trading for" (or somethig to that effect). Just as I said that another person said "don't trade with ________, he does not have inferno and will take your stuff" (or something like that). He left the room.

I worry about how many kids he has scammed this way. They might not relize magic is traded in the box and accept thinking they are getting it. I didn't report him because I was not harmed and I knew VMK would not do anything about it. I can't remember his name. If I saw it again, I would probably recognize it.

Malia, the same thing happened to us a few weeks ago. Myself, Wolf, Dewberry and Debsangels (and her girls) were in Central Plaza, when someone offered inferno for invisibility (??!)
A couple of ppl offered to trade, but we knew it was a scam, so I kept him talking in the trade box (playing dumb "where is pin? Can u show it to me?" etc), while the others reported him.
VMK_Mocha showed up within a minute, and asked what happened. I gave the details, he vanished and she stayed in the room for a few minutes (but not sayig anything, probably checking the logs).

If this does happen to anyone, even if u don't let the scumbag (sorry, but they are ruining VMK for the rest of us), scam u, you must report it to stop it happening to younger children like in the OP.

I didn't think I could report it, since I wasn't "injured", nor do I know for sure he didn't have inferno. I will report next time.

My son was having a party in my room yesterday. A "kid" showed up and started saying some bad things. I asked him to be nice or I would boot. He continued, so I booted. A few minutes later, another Guest shows up. This time he starts saying "the owner is a ......." saying something that I never would have thought could be expressed with the words available. Other people are asking me to boot. I didn't though, instead I let him stay while I reported him. Very quickly after reporting I got a message from VMK saying basicly they will take it from there with a wink smiley. And then the guest was gone. I don't know if he left, or VMK made him leave, but their response time was quick, and I was happy. He was saying something really awful. I was ashamed leaving him in the room when he kept repeating it, but I figured it was better leaving him to be found easier, then booting him to go who knows where.
