So I am going to BCV on May 4the for the first time with my family. I have been so excited about this trip.

A few weeks ago I got a letter from DVC saying that the stormalong bay slide would be closed during our trip. I was sad for about a minute an then I got over it thinking I will just stay at the quiet pool most of the time.

Today I got a letter saying that the Dunes Cove Pool will be closed for my trip. Is this the DVC pool? I am pretty bummed.

Are there any other pools at BCV besides Stormalong Bay and Dunes Cove. I am sure thd kids will love SAB but for a more relaxing time I was looking forward to the regular pool.

Am I wrong to be sad....maybe I should just get over it. Just venting. I am still very happy and excited about our trip.

I have the same problem whenever I stay at BWV it seems that the main pool or at least the slide is closed for some reason or other. At a matter of fact the one time I went to VB the slide was closed there too.

This reminds me of the Matterhorn at DL. Never got to go on it until I was 20 something!!!!! :headache: I just thought it was always closed for refurbishment! :rotfl:

Sorry - off topic. I'll let you get back to the pool question.

No, you're not wrong to be sad, but it might be ok- there is another quiet pool at the beach club, and stormalong bay has more than just a water slide.
There's a lazy river, the pools are everywhere with sand in the bottom, there's a whirlpool that is fun to get pushed around in, and a bunch of hot tubs. Then there is a very small waterslide in a small pool near where you'd go up to the big slide (if you could).

I'm not sure if Dunes Cove is the DVC pool, or the quiet pool at the beach club. I would be disappointed, too, but if you feel like going to a waterslide, go pool hop- or head to one of the waterparks. What is it that I keep reading? Oh. yea- it's just a reason to go back!!:flower3:

Hope you have a wonderful vacation-
Ellen

There is also a quiet pool at YC. From BCV you would have to get directions from the staff because I'm not sure how you'd get there!

And there's the Tidal pool. I've been asking about it...it's near the path that goes around the Boardwalk. I like using the Dunes Cove pool, not as much as SAB, but it's closer. I always feel the need to swim on the last morning before checkout.

PS. I've most often been at BCV during the beginning of May and over Mother's Day weekend, these are the first closures I've experienced.

So it's called the Tidal Pool!!! That pool is very quiet, at most 3 people are swimming in it- usually just has a few people hanging nearby. I think it would be an excellent substitute for Dunes Cove! Enjoy your swim!:goodvibes

Please don't be sad!!! :grouphug: I'm disappointed too, but our May at the BCV has been marvelous every year we've been, OK, this is our 4th May trip to BCV. Last year we were out of points and stayed off site for F&G, that was sad:sad:

I agree with podsnel, it's just a reason to go back again:goodvibes

I've been a bit bummed too, mostly because we're bringing lots of extended family for the first time and I wanted everything to be as magical as possible for them. But I was happy to hear about the Tidal Pool, and I also figured it might be a good opportunity to hop over to BWV and try out the clown slide - the kids will probably enjoy that! Guess we'll all just have to make the best of it. At least SAB is not closed - I would have been severely crushed had that happened!!!

Thanks everyone for your warm thoughts. I hadn't heard of the tidal pool .We will have to try it out.

I have to admit that I feel a little petty worrying about such things now. Yesterday afternoon, my mom's best friend had a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. She is in critical condition at Thomas Jefferson Hosp in Philadelphia. The doctors say she is fortunate she even made it to the hospital as most people die before they even get there.

If you feel so inclined, please say a prayer. This woman is one of the kindest people I know and we all adore her. My four year old has a special affinity for her because all she wears is purple (my dd fave color) and has a purple car. :)

Peanut- wishing the best for your friend- and don't feel guilty about worrying about small things. We all do it.

Anyway- I just wanted to mention how incredibly fun the BWV slide is, and the pool is cute with squirty elephants.... you can easily walk over there for swimming- aND it is easier to keep track of the kiddies at the BWV pool, if that is a concern.

I sure will. My DSis wears purple a lot, they are very special people!!

Peanut,
Nah you're not petty. We all look forward to our vacations and it's only natural to worry a little when we get those letters. I got the same 2 you got. Jefferson Hospital is a great hospital, I trained there many, many, many moons ago. I'll throw on my purple tee shirt for your friend (and daughter) tomorrow. It will bring a bit of good karma

I hope she's doing better tonight. I'll keep her in my thoughts & prayers. It's amazing how quickly things can get put into perspective for us, isn't it? A very good reminder of why we want to spend time making great memories with our families. Blessings to you all.

I do believe in miracles. Clare is doing very well today. My mom told me that they took her off of the ventilator, woke her up and she is actually talking and seems to have no memory loss or brain damage at this point. There is still a long road ahead, but this is very good news. My husbands friend is in a prayer group and he had all of his friends praying and we were praying and it really does help.

Thanks for all of your prayers and well wishes. I am going to go visit her later today.

Glad to hear your friend is improving. Miracles happen everyday. We will keep her in our prayers.

That is wonderful to hear. A good friend of mine had the same thing happen to him in his late 30's. He is absolutely fine now. Miracles do happen!! I'll keep the Purple Lady in my prayers- It's my favorite color, too!

So glad DMom's friend is doing better and will definitely keep her in our prayers here in Ohio!!!

To your pool question, if you want a change of pace, BWV does have a really fun pool. Our kids LOVED it. The only thing is, it's not zero entry. So, if your kids can't swim well, take life jackets or floaties. Even if you go and LOVE the quiet pool, try the BWV pool out for a day. They have a snack bar and the pizza place is right around the corner. We would spend time at the pool and then order a pizza for lunch! Doesn't get much better than that! :goodvibes

Hope you have a WONDERFUL vacation! We were at SSR in March, and won't be back till August. That seems like an eternity :scared1: , though I know it will be here before I know it!

Thanks to all for your well wishes. It is not good news to report.

Clare has taken a serious turn for the worse. She started by going into a coma last week out of the blue. Then came the fevers, strokes and increased intracranial pressure. Wednesday, they found out she had 2 more major strokes and even if she survived, she would be neurologically devastated. The family is all coming into town and they are starting to stop medical care and are turning the ventilator off tomorrow.

I am really worried about my mom. In the past 3 years, she has lost her brother, her mother and last year my Dad had a real medical scare where he was hospitalized for weeks and we thought he was going to die. I just don't know how much more she can take. To top it all off, we are going to disney on Sunday and probably won't be in town for the funeral.

Thanks for letting me get out my feelings...you guys are the best!

Clare and her family are in my prayers along with your mom.
