Another split stay question

I have a one night room at CBR booked for Nov 7th, then another reservation for the same resort for 8-15. I just changed the first night from preferred to standard (had been waiting for it to be opened up). Since I had paid in full for the first reservation, I now have a $47 credit on my "hotel account." Anyone know what this means? I assume that it's for things I charge to the room but since we're only staying one night, don't know what i'd be charging. Would this transfer to the new room reservation? Thanks!

I don't. I always thought they just refunded the difference to the card on file. I'd be interested to know about this too, as we have a similar split stay set up, and I'm hoping to adjust the price with a discount.

I would say you could do this. I have a split stay coming up for 2 resorts. I paid in full for resort #2, then a discount came up. I got a substantial credit, which the Disney CM wanted to keep at WDW for any room charges during our stay at resort #2. But most of our charging (dining) would be while we were staying at resort #1. So I requested a refund to my CC. Just then the CM asked if I had a balance owing for resort stay #1 (I did). She suggested I transfer the credit from resort stay #2 to pay down the balance for resort stay #1. She went ahead with that transaction and sent me an email showing the new, lower balance due for resort stay #1.

In a nutshell, I think Disney prefers to keep the money in their bank (holding for you to use, of course) instead of refunding it. But they will not say 'no' if you insist on a refund, and they will be very gracious about it.
