We rode Soarin' several times on our one DCA trip shortly after it opened. We really liked Soarin' and I was very happy to hear it was coming to WDW.
We went last night for the AP preview with another (AP) couple.
Epcot was busy last night due to Soarin' and the first day of the Flower & Garden. (Which is again outstanding from what we saw.)

The other couple had never been on Soarin' and ended up LOVING it. We only rode it once, and would have gone on more. But we had PS at Chefs de France. And who wants to miss that!? ;)

So -- four adults. The husband of the other couple is older, in his 70's. I wanted to mention our experience for others who might be his age, or traveling with those who are not risk takers in any way.

The older gent was very apprehensive and tried backing out. DH almost drug him in. (He had to be coaxed and led in.) He was sweating and nervous until the start.
He walked away in love and stating he would be riding it several times from now on.

I was glad DH got him to take a chance and try something new. Even the man's wife told me she was glad we were along as she would not have been able to get him on Soarin'. She is more of a daredevil, and he plays it safe. So it is a great attraction that suits both their personalities.
She always wanted to go hang gliding. Now she feels like she has! And she has done it the safe way, and with her DH!

A CM was reading every guests APs before allowing them to enter. As to be expected another guest was doing everything he could to talk the CM into letting him and his family enter with their MYW passes. The CM was polite, but firm, and not allowing it.
As the guy was continually pleading, I overheard the CM say he even had to turn away British guests who probably were taking their one time Disney vacation.

As I witnessed with Stitch Great Escape, they allow in only guests with APs. I did not see anyone with a DVC at the time we entered.

We plan on returning today for round two! Soarin' with no line! Probably the ONLY time this will ever happen! :cloud9:

As I loved your review on Chefs, I love your report on Soarin'~ for all age types.

We have APs and will be going tomorrow. How long is it open for AP preview on Sunday (which I know is the last day for AP preview)? Also, how long were you standing in line?

TIA!

Yesterday was the start of the AP preview. And really I don't know how many days the AP preview is. I am guessing three.
We waited maybe 5 minutes until the next showing. :teeth: :flower1:

We were also wonderinglast night how late Soarin' would be open. Until 7:00, along with FW. ??

Coming up 4/22. Any AP know if they are allowing previews next weekend? Sure would appreciate keeping yer "ears" open for info. Thanks!!!

This weekend is the only AP preview. There may be soft openings but I wouldn't count on it.

Aw, great report, I can't wait to ride it. That is so sweet about the older man..and his wife!! :goodvibes

Sharing your experience ,looking forward to Soarin on our upcoming trip. :goodvibes  :flower:

We also rode soarin when we went to Disneyland and loved it. But here's my stupid question, I know for the 50th birthday stuff they are bringing in all these attractions/prardes/etc. from other parks but are they really bringing them in or building new ones just like those? Dumb question I know but just curious!

Soarin' -- Day 2

MUCH busier.
More of the same. But a 30 minute wait. (Just after noon, I would guess.)
By the time we were leaving I heard a 45 minute wait.

Also they have placed tables and chairs in the new food court seating areas.

We loved it - just too short (about 6 mins). We were on the bottom row the first time - much better higher up. Still pulled my feet up numerous times to avoid "contact"

We went today too and loved it. I was on the bottom row too and was wishing I was in row 2. Soooo glad we decided to go today and preview because once this ride opens the lines will be horrendous. There were DVC members behind me so they were previewing today too.

The line was long enough outside yeaterday when we arrived that there were several CMs at the initial entrance. One wuld occasionally go down the line and make sure those in line had their APs and DVC cards ready to flash.

When we rode Soarin' in CA we always happened to be in the front row.
Friday when we rode Soarin' here we were in the front row.
Yesterday we were in the second row.

In the front row you can see the top of the screen occasionally.
In the second row we saw the screen top once and very briefly, but the front row guest's dangling feet almost constant.
It does take some of the effect away. But still good overall.
