I posted a slideshow from my recent WDW trip. I went to AK and MK on the first day and Epcot on the second. I never made it over to MGM.

The slideshow is here. You can see all my older slideshows at http://barbierifamily.org/slideshow.

Because the slideshow is an executable, it runs only on Windows. My apologies to all of you Mac and Linux users. I'm working on moving to Flash based slideshows, but I'm not there yet.

Do you even know how to take a bad picture:rotfl2: !!! I throughly enjoyed it. Looks like you had a great time!!

Amazing Mark - I checked out your canada slideshow as well. wow - breathtaking!

Mark,

What lenses did you use for most of these shots? Did you walk around with the 70-200 on most of the time? I sure hope not cuz I don't want to have to do that in November! Your photos are superb, as always!

Excellent job Mark. Every photo was beautiful & i loved the music too.

What program did you use to make this?

WOW!!!

Those are amazing. I can only hope to take photos half as good.

Debbie

GREAT PHOTOS, as I would expect nothing less from YOU! (I wish I had a tenth of your photgraphy talent) Where did you get the music track from and what lens/settings did you use most often? Thanks for letting us live vicariously through your lens.:thumbsup2

Mark,

Your pictures are absolutely Wonderful. You are causing me to
have serious Disney Withdrawals.

:thanks: :worship: To say WOW! doesn't even do this justice! That made my whole day!! Your work is so amazing and the flow with the music was perfection! If you could share where you found the piano arrangement to Specto I'd love to know. It's my favorite parade and I have the soundtrack, but the piano version you used was so much more elegant! Thanks again Mark, you are a man with an incredible gift and talent!
Blessings,
Marge

Simply awesome Mark, awesome. If I could, I'd like to ask two questions.

1) Where do you host at? I was able to pull down 2 MB/sec easily and that's really unheard of for most hosting sites.

2) It appears in some of the photos that your wife takes turns with photos on occasion. Does she use the same equipment that you use that you've trained her on, or does she have her own "spouse of a photographer" equipment? I ask because I'd like to move to a DSLR and I think getting my wife to use it would be a hurdle.

P.S. Love the Mannheim Steamroller on the 2006 Epcot slide show!

Well, since us Mac users can't view the slideshow, is there somewhere we can just view the pictures? I'm hoping so, I love your pictures, but just recently got an Mac and DH's Dell is down with battery problems right now.

great as usual mark, really enjoyed it!
sounds strange but i especially liked the range of dof ( blame handicap for that:rotfl: )

beautiful! i watched your canada trip also. very nice. my dh and I were at Whistler and in NVancouver for a week in early Sept. to hike. Gorgeous area. I'd love to go to the Banff area sometime and Vancouver isl. Did you have to go out looking for the wildlife or did you happen upon the animals? We didn't see any big animals on our trip- the biggest was a pica. But as my kids say- wildlife hates me. I've lived in NH for 20+ yrs and have only seen moose twice.

Whole family enjoyed your slideshow (twice, LOL). Thanks for setting the bar around here. I would also like to know what program you used. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

That is simply fantastic, Mark. Watching that really stirs the Disney spirit within. Thank you for sharing.

Do you even know how to take a bad picture:rotfl2: !!!
I practically specialize in it. What you saw were about 100 pictures out of nearly 2,000. In fact, I'm planning on posting some bad shots that could easily have been good (or at least decent) shots had I not choked. I'll sacrifice my pride for the sake of helping others learn from my numerous mistakes.

What lenses did you use for most of these shots? Did you walk around with the 70-200 on most of the time?
I did most of my shooting with my 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8. I took a few shots with my 50mm f/1.8 and an occasional shot with my 17-40mm f/4. If you haven't seen it, Barrie has a picture somewhere around here showing jut how rediculous I looked all festooned with gear.

I don't have stats on the ones in the slideshow, but a quick check in Lightroom shows these numbers for total shots on the trip:

136 17-40mm
730 24-70mm
164 50mm
873 70-200mm
014 70-200mm with 1.4x extender

For Apertures, here are some rough numbers:

135 <f/2.8
900 f/2.8
100 Between f/3.2 and f/3.5
300 f/4
200 Between f/4.5 and f/7.1
200 >= f/8

For ISO, the numbers are:

006 ISO 50
043 ISO 100
007 ISO 125
019 ISO 160
288 ISO 200
011 ISO 250
026 ISO 320
344 ISO 400
008 ISO 500
069 ISO 640
388 ISO 800
039 ISO 1000
529 ISO 1600
140 ISO 3200

Excellent job Mark. Every photo was beautiful & i loved the music too.

What program did you use to make this?
The music used in the slideshow was "SpectroMagic Medley" performed by David Benoit. You can find it on Disney's Music From The Park.

I put together the slideshow using Pictures2Exe. I picked it several years ago after looking at all my options. There may well be better programs out there today. The thing that I liked about it was that it wrapped your JPG files rather than building a video stream. That meant that you could get much higher quality pictures in a much smaller file than you could generating a video. The downside is that you need a PC to play it rather than just burning it on a DVD. The upside is that you can easily share it online.

The slideshow is not stored with my provider (my website host). It is hosted at www.box.net. I use it for storing large files like these slideshows and video files.

We are currently a three camera family - Canon 1DM2, Canon 10D, and Pentax W30. I almost always use the 1D. My wife uses the 10D when we are out together with two cameras. When she is shooting on her own, she often uses the 1D. The kids use the W30 and the 10D.

The 1D has a very low SAF (spouse acceptance factor). It has no easy modes. The interface has a steep learning curve. It was designed around the assumption that you would take the time to learn it and wanted all compromises between speed of use vs ease of learning to favor speed of use. The 10D (now 40D) is much easier for a novice to pick up.

My wife has a general knowledge of the basics (high ISO for low ligh, low ISO for better quality, low f-stop for less DOF, etc). She usually sets the camera to one setting and then shoots everything that way (often something like ISO 640, f/4, AV for indoor shots).

If she had to, she could use the 10D in "green square" mode, which basically turns it into a point and shoot. She wants to learn the equipment, though, so she insists on not using that mode. The 1D has no full-auto mode.

I'm glad you liked the choice of music. I spend way too much time stressing over which music to use. It's good to see that it sometimes pays off.

Well, since us Mac users can't view the slideshow, is there somewhere we can just view the pictures? I'm hoping so, I love your pictures, but just recently got an Mac and DH's Dell is down with battery problems right now.

With my last trip, I posted the slideshow photos in a folder on my Smugmug site. I haven't done that yet with this trip. I'll try to get to it. I have posted my pictures on my site (Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and Epcot), but you'll have to wade through a lot of mediocre shots to see the good ones.
