DH and I joke around that in many ways, we reversed stereotypical gender roles with this one.
DH, who is physically home more than me: does all the laundry, handles all of the dry cleaning, loads and unloads the dishwasher, writes the check for and communicates with the cleaning lady and the lawn mowing guy, takes out and brings back the trash, pays the bills, runs errands, writes and mails all of our cards (he is one amazing "let us express our love for you" card writer. People cry. He is the best at that)
I: food shop, gift shop, handle long-term financial planning, keep track of and handle car maintenance, plant flowers.
I really don't pull my load but I regularly work 65 hour weeks, so he has always agreed to take on more. We've had this arrangement going a few years now. It's a little complicated because we have both a house in NJ and an apartment in NYC, so there are two households going for 2 of us, but he handles it brilliantly.
