I seriously need my sensor cleaned. I had to spend quite a while removing dust specks and something bigger and black that I am not sure I want to know it is.

Anyway - I am tempted to just find someone in my area that will clean the sensor for me, but how do I go about finding that someone?

If I have a hard time getting it done by someone else - when you do it yourself - do you also do anything with the mirror? It is also looking a bit dusty - as least to my naked eye.

I need to know the answer to this question too! I took some Easter photographs today and I can see a spot in all my photographs. I couldn't see it the last time I had a session for Easter photographs. Although I bet my aperature(sp? sorry, can't spell today) was different today.

i think if you call some reputable camera shops they should be able to tell you who does it locally, eps. if it's a local ie non chain shop. i think everyone around me sends it out but that might not help if you don't want to wait

Here is a very good and comprehensive compilation of sensor cleaning methods. Cleaning the sensor is just a fact of life for dSLR owners and should be done regularly, but it can be scary and things can go wrong (like my $300 repair bill from Canon). Still, with as many times as I cleaned that sensor I am still to the good if I would have paid $75 a whack for cleaning.
