Another segmented reservation problem

I have a segmented reservation at Wilderness Lodge over Thanksgiving.

Nov 19-23 and Nov 23-27. I was planning on the Dining Plan for 4 nights and then using the Tables in Wonderland card for 4 nights.

When I check Disney's My Reservation web site it give me a count down from the second reservation (23rd) for making dining reservations.

I've asked DVC to fix this and basically they politely said TOO BAD!

It is a know computer problem and currently they have no intentions of fixing it.

I guess that is what happens when you pay upfront. Since they already have my money, customer service isn't a priority for them.

You would think a company like Disney and DVC having 20 years under its belt would be able to handle an efficient reservation system.:sad1:

A similar thing happened to us with our 8 night October trip. We have a single reservation number and we are switching from a 2-BR to a studio for the last 4 nights. When we put the reservation number in the WDW website, it shows both segments, but the countdown is to the second half of the week and we were not able to do ADR's on-line at 180 days. We are not doing DDP, just using TIW.

When I called MS on day 180 from the first half of the trip, they acknowledged the problem. They were able to manually make ADR's for us and they gave me confirmation numbers for each of the ADR's as he did it. It took forever, but at least we were able to get our reservations for character meals and the more popular restaurants.

They really need to figure out a way to fix this. The CM at WDW-DINE had no way of over-riding the system, even though she could see our full reservation. It was quite frustrating!

If there are some tough ADR's you really need to set at 180 days, give MS a call at 180 and they should be able to do that for you.

Please send a email to the DVC Satisfaction Team and report the problem. I was told last week by DVC Management that the segmented reservation problem was fixed a couple of months ago and that it is no longer an issue.

Seems like the Management Team isn't informed about the day to day problems that the Members have to deal with.

Disney's IT always seems so poor! It's amazing for such a big corporation.

The same thing happened to us in late April, but it wasn't because of the dining plan. We had to waitlist one night of our stay so our vacation was segmented into 3 "stays" Sun-Thurs, Thurs-Fri & Fri-Sat.

When I tried to make ADR's online 180 days from check-in, I couldn't. Sun-Thurs was not showing up on Disney's site, only Thurs-Fri was showing up. I called MS and they couldn't make the ADR's either. I was on the phone for 28 mins before the CM told me that a supervisor had to create a dummy account to make my ADR's. I only let them make the 2 most critical ADR's and then went online day-by-day and made the others myself. I got all of the places & times I wanted and even got a time I wanted for 1 ADR that MS couldn't get for me.

It was a pain for sure and frustrating to have to waste so much time when I should have been able to do it online, all at once.

Could or would MS not make ADR's for you?

It's not Disney's IT that's the problem, it's the budget for the DVC IT.

But we don't know that this problem is exclusive to segmented DVC reservations. If a cash reservation is segmented (by changing resorts) and under the same reservation number, would they also have this problem with the dining system?

Definitely contact DVC Member Satisfaction, they need to know there are still issues with segmenting.

I have a simple segmented reservation, first night DxDDP, the remaining 10 nights regular DDP. I've reserved a 2 bedroom villa at Kidani Village, so no segmenting with the room. I won't go into too much detail but things haven't worked out well for me so far. I too was told I was calling a day too early to make my ADRs. Then they couldn't find the reservation under my name. Somehow it's under my sister's name. She is not a member, but is listed as an associate on my membership. Some of our ADRs are under my name, some under hers. They still haven't fixed the name issue but Member Satisfaction was able to help me with my ADRs. I wanted to add an extra day of DxDDP but I think I'll let sleeping dogs lie. I'm hoping we don't encounter any issues with our room keys or dining credits.

We considered a segmented reservation for our July stay and actually booked the original reservation segmented. We had so many problems with booking our desired dinning, the DVC CM ended up creating a new booking that was not segmented (done by the CM without consulting us). In the end we just decided to get a TIW card and skip the dining plan.

The same think happened to mein March when I logged in to make my dinnig reservations for my September trip. I segmented out the first day and the reservation showed to second day as the arrival day. Luckily, I was able to search for Day 1 and the computer found my actual arrival date. I made all of our ADRs online without any problems. :yay:

I have a segmented trip for August, but had no problem making ADR's for the first night of my reservation, even shough it was only showing up on the Disney site for the last segment. When I plugged in the confirmation #, it allowed the +10 days of dining.

The only reservations that I did have a problem with was the one for CRT since it was the 3rd night of our trip, but a segment all on its own with the DDP. The reservations line could not get it to work. I finally called MS and they were able to do this but I still don't see it as part of my itinerary.

I have a confirmation # so hopefully all will go well with this.

I never thought about contacting member satisfication, but maybe I will just let share my experience.
