another Scammer! warning for you and story

just what we need right..? another scammer (note the sarcasm)

well today i was in my Sparrow suit oofer room and some girl (pm for the name) came into my room and said i will trade stitch for all of this. the offer is more than 15 items and so i said ok and collected the items. in the trade window i added all the 15 and said i would give rest of the items in the next trade but i had all the extreme rare stuff in first then i said put stitch in this trade and then i will give u the not so rare stuff in the next trade.. right away she said she did not want to be scammed again. which i told her there was no possible way she could get scammed because she would still be getting the better stuff in the first trade for stitch anyways and i was going to give the rest. So then i came up with the idea of adding even more rare stuff instead of the others so it could be done in a single trade. she immediatly added a cheap Pirate pin( the one u get from treehouse guy) and said here i will give u my luck pin then after i will give u stitch.. and then she added the emporium pin and said here take these two then will give stitch after i have all the stuff... so i repeated myself about the single trade and she did not answer so then i had mensioned about a community leader. she said oh no way all of them scam everyone even ask ppl.....( which one of my best friends in vmk is a CL and im no dumby lol) so then i said youre a scammer and i am reporting and she then stoped trade and immediatly fled the room thinking that i could no longer report her i remembered her name and then used the help tool to report her i could not fit in everthing i had to say so then i used the contact us because she also had tried this with others and i am afraid that she will get someone in this act. just a little warning and an update that people this pathetic are still around the kingdom...

Since she did not actually get anything, she is technically not a scammer, no scam act6ually happened therefore your report will go nowhere, as it shoudl.

Lovley response so what if this little kid maybe 7 had got some good stuff maybe from there parents or from somewhere and they had a offer for stitch or sparrow that was 20 items say and that girl walks in there and says I will take it not knowing the 7 year old takes the items up and gives them in first trade for nothing then the person runs away and she has only 5 items left so you want it to go nowhere so if this person scams a little 7 year old kid imagine how heart broken the kid will be? Just because vmk will go nowhere with this response? They have chat logs and that appears to be a scam I had an inferno offer where someone was trying to scam me and vmk sent a message to the room saying beware there is a scammer if it continues it will result is a ban for the person. So vmk does not go nowhere and I have had the experience of being scammed and vmk does nothing about being scammed but you would think disney would ban the scammer and look into chat logs before that and even staff trust CL_'s so staff would know it would be a scam I also use CL_'s to trade and know they would never scam so I hope the person arfy was talking about would get banned so a 7 year old kid who might be the next target won't fall as a victem to this scam and arfy thanks for sharing this to us.

key phrase there: "appears to be" but there is no actual proof that the person was intending to scam other than Arfy's (probably correct) feeling that it would be. I agree this person was probably trying to scam, but we really do not know for sure because the trade never happened.

It was a cute or boot of which I normally avoid, however, a kid on my list asked me to play. So I went. The owner informed everyone that they had to pay rare to play because the prize was green flip. I requested to see said item to which his reply was his friend had it and was on the way. I did not report because was not sure if that was an offense of the reportable kind however I did pm my friend to NOT pay it and informed the room to take care as there were scams out there and this was probably one.

Heehee, it is a waste of time, but it's strangely amusing how these players think they're "all that." And then they protest when they get out. "what why?!? i look cute" Sometimes I'll just go in to those rooms to try to keep people from eating each other.

again, you WERENT scammed! You correctly chose to not complete the trade. Smart move. But you STILL werent scammed. I refuse to use a leader in trades as well, does that make me a scammer?

Close personal friend is staff? How were you banned for 30 days then? They couldnt help you get back on?

I had that happen several times when I had my stitch offer room. A lot of people, usually guests, would come in and say they wanted my offer, but refuse to use a leader, want the rare first, and say they'd give it in the last window (2/5 times they couldn't even show me that they had the hat).

I reported one through the help button and they told me to use the contact us thing. So I did, and they thanked me for reporting and said they'd look into it.
It certainly can't hurt anything to let staff know about attempted scammers, and if they scam someone else but the person is too young to be clear in their report (or if for some other reason they doubt what the person says) then they have my report to back up the fact that it is, in fact, a scammer.

I'm sorry, but I (well, after about 7 months because I didn't try) got all my stuff back after getting scammed for inferno... I was giving green tea cup and more, and I've traded for inferno twice now. I know that a lot of people scam, and I realized that if they won't let you have a leader, then you have about a 99% chance of being scammed.

On a positive note, I'm glad I met one of my friends (not named at this point). She traded me inferno, with the promise that she would get green tea cup and more in the first trade, all the rare stuff in other words. So I gave her that stuff in first trade, and lucky for her I wasn't a scammer. Believe it or not, she trusted me because I had best game room .

So, lesson learned, NEVER do a trade like that without a CL_ unless it's someone you know in real life, or in some of our case, fellow DISers.

You never mentioned anyone actually getting scammed by her. And refusing to use a leader is not a scam. The only certainty here is that neither of you trusted the other.

For all you know, she might be on another board talking about "this scammer Arfy who wanted me to put my stitch hat in the first trade window or she wouldn't trade."

I'll bet you'd think it pretty unfair for her to call you a scammer under those circumstances, wouldn't you?

Always use a Leader for big (or small) trades! I would recommend CL_PirateSteff.

Yes using a Community Leader would probably be the smartest choice... unless you have a very trusted friend that you know.

I would certainly trust CL_PirateSteff more than any other player to help me along with my trades. It varies on a case-by-case basis.
